Very good hostel. It's spacious and clean and has a very nice lounge that offers a great view of the surrounding mountains and of course the beautiful lake. The place has ambience and a homely feel to it.

Expensive. But free computers with internet, WiFi. Fridges were already overloaded although less people. Dorm and bathrooms look very old but was ok.

Many Taiwanese and Japanese. Free food saved me! Thank for somebody! Enjoyed the awesome view of Wanaka Lake and felt like dining in a fancy restaurant(even if I was eating some self-cooked backpacker food).

Except for the price and the limited wifi, I liked everything about this hostel, stunning view from the living room AND our room, clean kitchen (and huge) and bathrooms, plenty of parking space, the fire place and computers with Internet access available.

I never felt as welcome and comfortable in an hostel as here. The Wanaka Bakpaka, its Team, and its guests smitten every new guest with warm charme. The place is - in my opinion - one of the best hostels in the world. It's not a party place and not a bargain if you are seeking for a cheap bed. But if you have been traveling for a while it will be the perfect place to rest, relax and enjoy the region.

Wanaka bakpaka is such a beautiful and welcoming hostel, perfect to relax, rejuvenate and watch the sun set on the lake. The staff are lovely, facilities are immaculate and there is a huge kitchen with fresh herbs to cook delicious food. The kind of place that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the bliss of Wanaka.

I've spent hundreds of nights in hostels all over the world and never felt as welcome and comfortable as here. The Wanaka Bakpaka, its team, and its guests smitten every new guest with warm charme and the place is - in my opinion - one of the best hostels in the world. It's not a party place and not a bargain if you are seeking for a cheap bed. But if you have been traveling for a while it will be the perfect place to rest, relax and enjoy the region. In some way the place appeals to honest, friendly and very lovely people.

Even if I didn't stayed here it was just amazing. I messed up my booking and the hostel was fully booked. The staff helped me to find another hostel and even gave me a ride. The atmosphere was just like coming home. So amazing!
