Host was great and very helpful. Unfortunately they were obviously trying a new waitress as her service and knowledge let the total experience down.

Good BBQ. Usually quiet. Can look like it is closed - but just try the door. Beer options are limited.

We read the reviews and expectations weren't high, but it was great for a Friday lunch. It was pretty empty but the service was friendly and prompt. From our party's mains: the Beef Rib was fantastic, the pork rib a bit tough and overly salty, the chips brill and smokey, the Cowboy special excellent. Then the homemade cheesecake fresh out of the oven was terrific. Really really good, would return again for sure,

Extremely average. Ordered a medium rare eye fillet and just got a thin overlooked bit of meat that was more like a rump steak. The salad was a few old lettuce leaves, a raw onion and odd bits of carrot and a 1/4 tomatoe. I had asked for no chips or mashed potatoes but was still charged full price expensive $32 for this decidedly plain and unappealing meal. Staff didn't care even when I explained how disappointing it was. They simply gave autonatied "so sorry about that" responses that came across as if they say it every night. Others in our party of 4 all felt the same with very average meals . We definitely would not go back and feel like we totally wasted a rare meal out treat by going here. Extremely dissappointed

Unimpressed. We were a group of 6 on a quiet Wednesday. Service was apauling we had to chase a drinks order and finger bowls for the ribs. No extra napkins were offered. I asked for the dessert menu but they couldn't be bothered bringing it.

The food was average burgers under done pork ribs tough. "Hand cut" fries were shoe string and nasty slimy greasy things. They would be better doing chunky fries.

    Not keen to go back.

Maybe it's better, for a place that is famous for ribs the ribs were average, not falling off the bone at all, a little bit tough and needed more cooking. Nice clean place with good service

Place has gone down hill, food took a long time to come out, and the ribs were uneatable, over cooked, when we sent them back they said they were the good ribs, disappointing.

$30 cowboy meal had two small piles of meat with some beans and coleslaw, although it tasted great was not filling at all. Could do with some cornbread or garlic toast etc. The staff was good but there seemed to be a lot of them standing at the bar staring and not doing much. Good beer selection and enjoyed the Sierra Nevada

This place is pretty darn good but they need a few tweaks to be a true American restaurant:
    1. Be open - I've tried to go three times and they have been closed randomly between lunch and dinner and their closing hours are "late" which apparently is sometime before 9:30pm on a Saturday night.
    2. BBQ Sauce - have it on the tables!
    3. Soda refills - an american standard
Three fixes and I'll bump this up to 5 stars :)

Food is great here, authentic and flavourfull! The ribs are perfectly cooked. I'd suggest ordering the half `n` half - half a slab of pork ribs and one decently sized beef rib! The buffalo wings are amazing and the side of their in house cooked baked beans just adds that extra level of “good god , that`s good” ( You can order the beans for take out - I ordered a litre once and will probably do so again.real soon)- stop reading this and just go :) ..Also, it's recomended you book if you have a crowd of carnivores with you and I think you can order ahead.

Ok Kiwis, this is pretty darn close to authentic KC BBQ. It has a mild vinegar base which I like so not as sweet as some sauces. The Arnold Palmer, cole slaw and the beans all pretty good too. I got the half slab of ribs and taking almost half of that home. I'll be back when I need a fix.
