  Its a tunnel.. in a hill typically where tunnels are found.

  If you're stuck for something to do and trying to fill in some time while in the Catlins, worth stopping in.
  
  Although it is basically a long dark tunnel which used to be a railway track. It abruptly ends and only has a couple of informational signs at either end. Can be completed in 10 minutes.

  Didn't do full trail due to lack of time but they part I did do was great. It is recommended to take a torch with you as it is dark in the tunnel.
