Use to be a huge fan of this place until today. The owner here is a nutcase and is so disgustingly rude. I will never go to this cafe again nor will I recommend it like I use too.
After waiting 35min for our food one order comes out with scrambled not poached I called back the waitress and she said she would take it back, I said look my child is starving I'll give her the eggs and if the chef can give me the eggs I ordered that would be great. We were seated right outside the kitchen the owner who was cooking and it was her muck up started going off that I had given the eggs to my child and now she wouldn't have enough to give the other customers. Firstly this made no sense because she didn't know she had made me the wrong eggs then to announce it to the whole outdoor area of the cafe is a piss take and secondly why would she give another customer eggs off my plate that had been put in front of me and could have been touched or anything in that time. This went on for a good 2-3 minutes her yelling about the lady outside giving her child the eggs, she made a point of us hearing how much this had pissed her off.
This women needs to go to anger management and learn how to not make customers feel unwelcome in her cafe.
On the plus side the staff here are amazing.

One of Aucklands iconic cafes, great breakfast menu as well as cabinet food to grab on the go, oh and maybe the best pies in the universe.

Not bad, but not great either. Big breakie was large and easily made gluten free. Perfect breakie for the next day after a late night. Not much else to comment on. Decor okay, service okay, all around okay.

Had carrot cake from here. Was offered choice of cream or yogurt to go along with the cake. Staff were cordial and efficient. Inner rooms are spacious and newspapers are available to read.

The opening hours are advertised incorrectly on google. The stupid response from staff was that google need to change it. A business controls its own listing information on google guys

Excellent place for brunch! They make very good coffee and the meal was a treat! I had the mushrooms on toast and was very tasty! The meal was quite large and I couldn't finish it but this is not a bad thing either! Recommend this place to all!

Great coffee and friendly service. The vegetarian stack in the counter is just superb! Salads are creative and tasty. And the pies.. Well, they're bar none. I've stopped by this awesome little cafe a few times over the past 2 years and they've never failed to impress.
