ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I had things go missing while I stayed there, and when I realized I had left a few things behind by mistake after I had moved, they had heard nothing about it. The operators, Mike and Paula, are Bullies, Incompetent, and Unprofessional. The cleaning staff represent the worst of their shortcomings. The place is a Cesspool. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! HaHa.

What a horrible place the day my wife (now ex) and I turned up there back in 2013 and booked in Paula one of the managers turned up drunk at our unit and actually threatened violence on me and was really nasty, Allso I noticed one of the male staff (also a drunk) constantly hanging round a bunch of young school girls staying there on a school hockey trip and acting real strange. Also the whole place was a pig sty and just filthy and food and other belongings constantly being stolen. We couldn't be bothered with the place and the day we moved out Paula the manager came to us and almost begged us to stay offering us a better room and being all lovey dovey and stuff, NO WAY would I ever stay in that dump again. Stay away people the place is bad, the managers and staff worse than useless and some of the drunk on the job, Paula the manager included and threatend by her as well

We stayed here for only two nights. We think it's too expensive for the quality. Our room was freezing because the heater didn't work and the Windows were leaky. The Water looks kind of white.

Where to start. from the check in, with paula. rude and truly a unwelcome sentiment. I thought that was the low point. then i meet Mike. The 'hidden' menace of the bushing crew.
Lazy and indifferent. Poor representation of of NZ and Scotland.

A really amazing place, were I met many many friends. But the place is falling down; the chalet where i stayed for over 2 months had broken stuff that never got fixed, a leak of water, and a long etc. Mike the manager is a cool guy, but Paula is simply the most awful hostel owner/manager that I've seen. If youre going to work in one, you WILL have to put up with people moving around, doing stuff, having fun, relaxing; so if you are the kind of people who dont enjoy people around you, just dont have a place like this! Very few times in my life I was treated so bad like in this place by Paula and another caretaker whose name I now forgot.

Went with a group-had a block to ourselves(17) - rooms carpeted and clean,made up beds,crisp white sheets-nice. Showers and toilets not revamped yet,however,clean and serviced every day. Kitchen had almost everything we needed-however,we asked for something and one of the managers brought it to us-great. Friendly place-apparently it was the old ministry of works site. We had been 4 yrs ago and the change is massive.Would recommend for groups or one night stays.Thanks
