Great drinks and board games, food is good as are prices.

Came upon this place when walking towards town from the gondola and I saw they had a “Monday Reuben Special” happening. I love a good reuben, so I went in to investigate. Except for the couple of people sitting at the bar, there was no one else in the place. It was a great space w/a speakeasy feel. The bartender was very nice and quick to take my order and make some beer suggestions (even let me sample one I wasn’t quite sure on). They even had wifi passcodes for up to an hour use upon request.
The reuben came out and it was pretty tasty. Not the best reuben I’ve ever had, but the meat was tender, there was enough sauce and cheese to add good flavor, and the bread was toasted just right, so no complaints! The chips that came alongside it were great too as was the pickle.
Definitely recommend this place for a delicious bite and pint at very reasonable prices!response / report this review -

This was awful but let me explain.
It all started about a week before my most recent visit. My girlfriend and I wandered into The Merchant because we needed a place with free wifi to find a cheap place to camp for the night (college budget vacation, am I right?). We walked in right as they were opening for dinner. The guy working at the bar was super friendly and gave us enough wifi tickets to keep us occupied for weeks. We ordered a Reuben and some chicken wings to split. Ends up the Reuben and the wings would be ready at different times because they fryers had to heat up or something. Our waiter was very apologetic and even gave us free drinks for waiting an extra 15 minutes for the wings to be ready. The food was delicious and the entire experience was so great that I decided to come back a week later when I was back in Queenstown.
Here's where it gets good. The Merchant, being amazing as always, is offering $1 wings that day. So of course I had to order a massive pile of wings. They were as delicious as ever and I'm chowing down right as this huge group of girls walk in only to witness me more or less coated in barbecue sauce. I'm talking like walking dead zombie, blood covering the mouth and forearms; except the zombie is me and the blood is barbecue sauce. It was just plain embarrassing.
Tl;dr:
Pros: free wifi, great service and staff, super tasty Reubens, AMAZING chicken wings, good music, good drinks, good prices, cool decor

Burnt bread, nearly an hour wait for my food cause they forget to put the order through. Meh. The Reubens was an epic let down!

Very nice interior and friendly staffwe just went for drinks and they had a big menu and fair prices, all good!
