Situated conveniently close to the city but feeling miles away, this is the perfect place for an afternoon stroll with the family. There are a great variety of trees and landscapes surrounding the wide, well-maintained and extremely accessible tracks, with plenty of surprising nooks and crannies to discover. Keep an eye out for the massive chicken population!
Nice place to walk around. Kids will love the wild duck and small chickens.
Great for family walks and a picnic out. Not far out of Hamilton, 5 mins by car. Reasonable car park but can get full on busy days. A few shelters here and there on the walks to stop and rest your feet. You can often find painted rocks around that kids have left for you to collect and hide again - tronrocks.
Very pleasant walk only a short drive out of Hamilton. Plenty of seats around if you need to take a break, where you are guaranteed to be pestered by the multitude of chooks which roam the area. Great place to take kids. We visited after rain and didn't find the path particularly muddy or difficult.
Great place to take the family for a day out, nice and close to Hamilton but could use some more covered shelter areas for rainy days
Can't wait to go back. Peaceful sanctuary. Safe to walk alone.
Nice and peaceful walks a goodplace to have a wedding also good for yong children.
Beautiful area, especially during springtime, to go for a walk or run. The peacefulness of the trees and the many ducks and chickens that bring life to this place is great.
Great place to take kids. enjoy a walk, picnics and be amongst lots of chickens ducks cows and beautiful trees
Nice place to walk with nature.and these chicken will follow you no matter where and how fast you walk there. It is fun..they wont bite..i guess
Many fantastic tracks through bushes, popular with families with kids and on-lead dog walks.
Interesting walk amongst the trees and open grassy areas with small lakes and birdlife. Take the shorter walk or the longer figure 8 path. Well worth a visit.
Lovely walk enhance by rooster encounter all the way :) and if in season you can pick up some chestnuts
Free. Parking. Toilets. Water. Lots of walk. Lots of chicken to feed. Kids love it.
Picnic areas. Louqat trees. Apple and pomegranate trees. Quincy trees. Pear plant.
Cows grazing.
One of my favorite places to go!! Love the variety of walking trails and the opportunity to be in a natural setting so close to the city. We walk our dog (on lead) and have had a few moments with people with small children who don't believe dogs should be there, my advice; if you are scared of dogs go to a park where dogs are not allowed! My girl is as friendly and well trained as they get! That said Taitua is the best place for photos and absolutely great for letting the kids (dog-friendly ones) run wild!! Over the years benches and seats have been added which means this is a great place for picnics!!! Could use a few more rubbish bins over the summer months though. Highly recommend the drive to this special place.
