Limited choice of savoury counter food, although plenty of sweet choices. Some of the cakes were probably a day old, as they tasted a little stale.

Roughly 2 hours out of Auckland on State Highway 27, many traveller's will have seen this place. A great stop for good coffee, take out items like sandwiches and savouries etc or cooked meals from the menu. Stand out here is the cakes, all baked on premises from scratch with no premixes used and taste like home made! I have been looking inside for the Sweet Painted Lady for about 3 years now and I haven't spotted her yet but the staff are all great anyhow! Easy parking and good truck parking nearby so popular with truckers.

High quality traditional New Zealand comfort food. Good sandwiches, desserts and pies. Plenty of room with a small park and swings just across the road.

Fantastic food. Good service. Great coffee and a nice relaxed place to stop on your trip south. If we need a rest break as part of our road trips we will definitely stop here again.
