Fantastic staff who were friendly and of great service to us. Took the trouble to return our phone which was left behind.
beautiful mountains and sea, take the cruise and you can see many more beautiful sceneries
All the staff were super professional, very friendly, relaxed and helpful. Awesome cruise, and also loved the kayaking. Dan was great! Thank you, couldn't recommend highly enough!
We had an excellent time with the cruise and kayak combo despite the parking lot area being soaked in some pretty substantial rain early in the morning. As soon as we shipped out, it stopped raining and the weather was quite awesome the rest of the day. The waterfall water we drank on the boat was incredible. Your feet will get quite wet if you stand under the waterfall, so be aware. Might not want to do that if you're going to spend the rest of the day in those shoes and socks.
Amazing cruise. We got to see dolphins, penguins, and seals. We took a small break from the cruise to chase after the dolphins to get a better view, courtesy of the captain.
I had the absolute pleasure of cruising milford sound with Southern Discoveries. My partner and I opted to take their "Nature Encounter Cruise", which was the ultimate experience. We saw Dolphins, Seals, and even parked the boat under 2 massive waterfalls. You were even allowed to go out and get soaked. There was also a Dedicated Nature Guide on board, giving details and fun commetary along the way. Even if it's raining out, don't hesitate to go to Milford and hop on one of these fantastic cruises. The rain add mist and insane temporary waterfalls everywhere. What an Adventure!
Firstly, book the kayaking add-on! It's absolutely incredible to spend an hour slowly paddling around a picturesque cove, this was the highlight for us over the cruise.
Secondly, Milford Deep in the Discovery Centre is well with a visit too, you get to see what is really going on under the water it's better than it sounds on paper.
Both of these add-ons are only available on the Southern Discoveries cruises. Try to get the cruise at around 10:15am, it's a lot quieter as the tour buses don't arrive until later. You can then catch the Milford Road highlights (I particularly recommend The Chasm and Mirror Lake) on the way back when they are also quieter.
