Expensive. Owners try to push the maximum profit out of it as it is in a near monopoly situation to the camper park. Food was greasy.

Great place to watch an All Blacks game with the locals. Nice garden area available to dine or drink in. Pool table available too.

Ok. Greasy, poor quality frozen food. Atmosphere not bad and has a pool table. Would advise bringing own food from Greymouth as this place is only place open.

Terrible probably the worst tavern I have ever been to. Bar lady was like the walking dead. Ordered a diet coke and it was flat and lifeless like the tavern atmosphere. Said free WiFi at the entrance,of which costs $3,00

Best peppercorn sauce we have ever tasted. We ordered an extra round of mussels as they were so tasty . Steak + bangers and mash outstanding . Family friendly and our baby boy was given special attention and a box of toys to entertain him. We wish our stay in Punakaiki was longer just so we could return.

Very surprised by the negative comments, just tonight I had visited here and ordered food, which is good quality, and while the price can be a bit higher than normal it's acceptable. The staff here are friendly and kind to travellers, didn't have any negative comments or rudeness of any kind.

Not far from the tavern is a beach that offers amazing views and is a pretty sweet spot to watch the sun set. Overall a good experience, and would come here again if I ever visit the west coast.

Not great food, frozen fish portions not fresh fish.

They asked 3 dollars for use of wifi and extra 2 dollars to plug in computer for power! Really?

Not helpful! It's a shame as the Tavern is in a good position on N/S route.

Probably a decent pub but not a good food spot. "Homemade" pizza fresh from the supermarket, no way of making a halfway decent espresso. Just carry on 5 mins up the road and eat there pass this place by!

After some extensive bullying, overt discrimination and poor service provided by the older female staff. I'm sorry to say that I spent close to 40 dollars here to get some work done. With the WiFi at $3 an hour, overpriced, poor quality food , not to mention the general disgust the the staff had for the other non NZ patrons. I was blown away at how out bad this place was and how fortunate they are to have their location. Moments later I found a nice cafe and an isite with free WiFi up the rd with nice staff and better looking food. Don't go here, go literally 2 minutes up the road.

Terrible overpriced food. Surprised at how expensive it was for such low quality. Lady who owned the bar was incredibly rude and hates travelers. (Literally interrupted our entire meal complaining about how she hates foreigners). Bad vibes all around. Then we found an awesome cafe n bar right down the street. Go to the pancake bar! They have sweet food and a cool atmosphere
