Moonlight Guest Accommodation was located very close to town (it was a very very small town) but was a lovely little place. Our suite was large and had great facilities. Only problem was the was no kitchenette. They provided some cutlery and crockery, along with a toaster and kettle though which was helpful. We didn't have any communication with anyone which made it a little confusing but was otherwise great.
Lovely and cozy place to stay. 5 mins driving to Lake Tekapo (lakeshore) and the church. Also there're supermarket and restaurants around.
nice place. close to lake
We stayed at the newest location, called the Starlight lodge. It was very large and clean and had a huge upstairs kitchen/living room/sitting room with a wood stove, large screen tv, and great views. Truly and unbeatable value.
Five star plus star accomodation and service. We stayed for two nights in the spacious room downstairs and wish we could have stayed longer.
Rene and Marianne are excellent hosts--super friendly and knowledgeable and couldn't do enought to make our stay in Tekapo enjoyable. The facilities are excellent--spotlessly clean and everything in working order.
They bake their own bread daily and theirs was the best (and most healthy) continental breakfast we had during our trip to the South Island. The ham, homemade jam and Dutch cheese were a great start to the day.
The location is perfect--close to town and great Lake views from the lounge. Be sure to ask Rene about astronomy and stargazing!
No views on the first floor, only if you pay for the upper rooms. Very thin walls, could hear everything our neighbors upstairs were doing. Don't expect a good nights sleep with all the random noises. Breakfast in the morning was disappointing. The homemade bread was good, and so was the jam; however, that's about it unless you want some oatmeal or cereal. Not really much of a breakfast selection. The owners were nice and the city is lovely. Be sure to stay up and stargaze!
