Great vegan food choices. lovely coffee and friendly staff. Facilities are old and tired but its part of its hipster charm.

They try to be creative but taste and quality just isnt apart of most of their recipes. Coffee is decent at least.

I'd heard great things about this place so expectations were high.
Staff were friendly, even though it was really busy. Venue is kinda kitsch but not super comfy. Food was tasty, portions were huge! Some good vegan options but honestly, I've seen better menus for vegans in Wellington.
It's nice but perhaps when it's less busy.response / report this review -

Great tasting cabinet food and a perfectly made long black. There have been many a night when my coffee craving just needed to be satiated. I am just so glad that Midnight Espresso always comes to the rescue!

Midnight Espresso is the culture hub of Wellington.
If you're after a coffee or something more decadent, the staff are more than happy to help.

My favourite cafe in Wellington! Awesome hit drinks, counter food and just had my first cooked breakfast here- very yummy. Relaxed atmosphere and prices are reasonable. Plus, the staff are always friendly, especially when it is busy.

This place *still* has it, after all these years. The original Cuba St. café that still charges original Cuba St. prices for their coffee. Great counter food options for vegan/gluten-free eaters. Friendly, vibrant and knowledgeable staff. If coffee is the lifeblood of Cuba St., this might just be its heart - or perhaps soul? The only drawback would be its popularity - you might have to share a seat or a bench. Enjoy the pinball!

The best coffee in town and the only place I know that has a vegan cheesecake. Absolutely Devine and the staff are really friendly too. Sit back and see all the Cuba St culture come together in harmony.

Coffee here is some of the best in Wellington. And that is high praise. A good counter selection to go with it. And a laid back atmosphere. I struggle to walk by Midnight Espresso.

Great coffee, but neither of the breakfasts we received were very good. The person who I was with who'd recommended it said it wasn't up to the usual standard, so hopefully they were just having a bad day. I'll give it another go when I'm next in Welly.

They are a Wellington institution and the only downsides are (a) sometimes a long queue at the counter to order food/coffee) and (b) annoying customers who sit at the video games table seats when they aren't playing it and I want to play Space Invaders! It has a selection of dozens of classic video games. Funky decorations and a really good range of vegan and vegetarian food options (although I am neither). They are still open until 3:00am most nights and it is great to sit on the stools at the window watching the world go by on Cuba Street - be it day or night. I have been coming here and doing that since about 20 years ago when I worked night shifts as a computer operator!
