Excellent Italian food and an incredible ambiance. Sometimes I go here just for the atmos. The the food is prepared by specialists with a Pizza Chef down one end of the restaurant and a large Deli area in the middle. They also have excellent Pizza's and Risotto. Easily my favorite Italian restaurant in Wellington. My only criticism is that the tables for two are positioned a little too closely to one-and-other as sometimes myself and my partner feel uncomfortable chatting in ears range from the table next to us.

We've eaten here a number of times as the food is delicious. The female staff are fabulous but what let's the restaurant down in my opinion is that the males who work here, including the owner, are always so stern looking and never smile. It does taint the experience.

Always love it here..I love how the staff are so happy in their work and how they are playful with each other whilst still working. Nothing seems to be too much trouble.

The food was great -4. The service was poor -1. The waiter was rude directly to me and he had an impatient attitude. Never got a side order - had to ask twice then finally got it marginaly too late. The house wine was fine. The general atmostphere was fine. The owner never spoke a word even though he was the host for the evening. No expression, just blank although clearly in charge overseeing things.
I will go again because of the food but hope the waiting staff are friendlier or else - nah!

We started our culinary journey to this famous Petone eatery 1 month agohere is what we experienced on a Tuesday night:
    #Friendly staff
#Disappointing meals, with an over cooked salmon and steak.
#Chef tried his best the second time but was still over cooked and it seemed that the Kumera fries where deep fried again.
    # Before leaving my friend went to the bathroom and surprised the chef in the unlocked toilet cubicle. The latter apologized and run away without washing his hands
It's a pity Antonio and his wife wasn't there that night.

New owners have done really well with this place. Delicious gourmet food of both the "healthy" and regular variety and the staff are really cool! 😀😀 highly recommend this place! 😊

Went to La Bella Italia for a late leisurely lunch on Anzac Day with my daughter and nearly two year old granddaughter. First impression was that it looked very authentic despite being in an industrial style building. Italian staff were friendly and attentive but not in your face. Food was top rate. Lots of Italian produce for sale in the retail area.
Overall a lovely place to head for great food in a family friendly atmosphere.
