Wow. Strap in folks. Simply put, that was the best breakfast I have ever had. I chose the "English butty" (or similar) and it has changed me for life. A bacon, egg, hollandaise sauce and sweet-tangy-beetroot-relish sandwich?! Yes please. Well how 'bout we make it a garlic-bread sandwich too? I'm weeping as I recall it. My life was going down a dark path until I started eating that sandwich; now I'm basking in its heavenly radiance forevermore. I was actually only visiting New Zealand, and Tairua was a 3 hour drive out of Auckland (came for the Hot Spring Beach), but I may consider booking another holiday just to get that sandwich again. Manaia: the Mecca for brekka. Hallelujah. P.S. my partner got the Eggs Benedict with salmon - also worthy of 5 stars, but probably not the poetry I intend to compose about my butty. P.P.S. If Google had the option to give a 6 star review but you could only do it once in your life, I would still elect to use it on Manaia's breakfast. P.P.P.S. I will be sending my grandchildren to Manaia once they exist and come of age.

Went in on Sunday 25th March for a quick bite on way from Whitianga to Auckland at approx 10.45am. Ordered coffee and a omelette. Was not informed that there was a long wait. We got our coffee after 10mins. After 30mins still no omelette. Asked two different wait staff. Was told it was coming. I was starting to get a bit anxious as we had to be in Auckland at a certain time for the Adele show that night and traffic was terrible. Anyway, after 40 mins my meal arrived. Looked ok, not great. Started eating it only to find that it was completely burned black on the whole underside!!
If I hadn't been in a hurry I would have complained then and there, but just left and got back into the car. What a complete waste of time and money. Will not go back. If Cafes cannot cope with being busy..get more staff. Being busy is not an excuse for bad food . I can't believe a chef put that burnt offering on a plate!

Great restaurant and great food, just a few minutes from Pauanui! Dinner specials were compelling and vegetarian options were great too!

Quite an expensive place. The pizza was okay but not great considering the price ($22 - 26 per pizza). But the stuff was friendly and overall the place is beautiful.

My friends and I went to Manaia for dinner. I ordered the fish of the day, seared Salmon, roasted potatoes and mussels. Both items were divine. The salmon was cooked to perfection- moist with a crunchy skin. The red baby potatoes were delicious. The recommended wine was divine. My girlfriends ordered a pizza with arugula, Parmesan, prosciutto and they loved it. The meat lover antipasta plate was so good! This place also has a nice patio for outdoor seating.
