Amazing hostel! Very clean and relaxed with a lovely homely feel.
Super friendly and helpful staff. I actually lost my wallet in the hostel and they went above and beyond in finding it and arranging getting it back to me, which was amazing!

Nice accommodation and staff seemed friendly, but extremely patronising with signs everywhere short of reminding me to wipe my arse. No shoes inside and about 50 cameras in the corner of the room made me feel like I was in an insane asylum. Location was decent, with alright parking and free extras such as wifi, decent showers etc. Wouldn't go here expecting a party however, as a lame sign of Mr T told me to pity the fool making sound after 10 pm. Also no cooking after 9pm (was boiling water to make instant noodles) and insisted on us using a kettle (probably a louder instrument).

Lovely little place nestled in close to town, has the feeling of a large house with open plan kitchen, dining and lounge (Communal Guitar!). Kitchen is well setup, with boxes for food storage, and well stocked for kitchen essentials. TV doesn't have actual tv, just media player and variety of dvds on offer. Rooms are not cramped, and simple setup. Views aren't particularly fantastic, but very convenient to supermarket, warehouse, and other stores. There's a lovely family running the place that was always happy, chatty, and helpful.

This place was really frustrating. It is clean, but the rules are very strict. Girl was 45 mins late to open check in. It is just a "take your money, give you what you pay for, and then get out of our sight." They are polite, but not actually friendly at all. But it is clean and suitable. The atmosphere and hospitality is just very cold, luke warm and sterile atmosphere that is not friendly at all. I feel bad to give them money.

Nice place to rest after to do the Abel Tasman great walk. The staff are very friendly and nice. Good price for laundry, $3 wash machine $3 dryer.

Awesome hostel to stay in very helpful friendly staff stayed for more than 5 weeks while picking fruit in Motueka. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm the room and house was very clean and homely and just across the road from New World and close to town you can walk there in just a few minutes. We are coming back soon! we recommend

I had a very bad experience in the Laughing Kiwi Backpackers. Without talking about the place - the commun space which don't look very clean and well maintained (1 shower of 2 is working proprely) and also the sheets are not wash so often than they pretend - the most important to know is the owners are NOT FRIENDLY and NOT TRUSTABLE peoples. If you are a traveller looking for a place for a long stay they will try to make money on you and change their mind every day on the prices and the disponibility they have for you. There are NOT FRIENDLY : all them smile are fake and there will put you out from your room whenever they want.
Very bad experience there I don't recommand to anyone.response / report this review -

has to be one of the best in NZ I've stayed at I spent 4 days in Motueka while visiting the Abel Tasman National Park (15mins away by car) we stayed at 3 different places because it was busy in town and hands down this was the best of the three. The owners (Tracey & I think it was Matt? and their puppies) are really nice very helpful Tracey helped me with an injury during my stay, the house was so nice it was hard to believe it was a hostel. wifi was fast unlimited and reliable and every thing was so clean! very close to the town centre a few minutes walk and just across the road from a big grocery market. I'ld stay again can recommend to anyone.

It's a small hostel with family atmosphere. Nice and clean kitchen/facilities. Good connection to Abel Tasman NP. Friendly staff. Recommendation for booking!!!

I’m so frustrated. I stayed almost one and half month in this backpack. I respected the thousand stricts rules, i paid my rent and i did my best with the staff and the guests, just to spend a really good time there. In the end, after all these efforts, I have been kicked out without warning and this from a day to the day after. The owner told me that I was too sociable… Can you believe it ? Finally everything is a fake, the atmosphere, when they smile at you, they don’t care about the customer satisfaction and they won’t hesitate to betray you for the business. I feel so disappointed that I trusted them.
In fact, if you are friendly, good and honest just run away, you deserve better.response / report this review
