This place was amazing. Beautiful little cabin nestled in the mountains. The staff were incredible, friendly, and super informative. If you can’t find accommodations in Milford Sound, this is your best option.

Was not expecting such a cozy and well put together "cabin feel"! We stayed in a room with a king size bed and additional full bed with a kitchen, porch and bathroom. PC who is the owner did such a great job with the place and he's a book of local NZ knowledge. He even booked our Milford cruise that we weren't expecting to do- so worth it! Great guy making an honest living - the life!:) thanks PC!!!

Stayed a night here as I was heading up to milford sound. Didn't get to explore the area much as it was already late and raining when I got there. Nice and quiet place. Would love to explore the area if I have the chance to.
Take note that there's no reception here. No wifi as well. Time to disconnect and connect with your travel companions.response / report this review -

The only proper toilet between te anau and Milford sound. The toilets are very well maintained.

Great place! Convenient location with good service. The room was one of the best stocked rooms we stayed in during our two week road trip. There is a short hike to a nearby waterfall that is well worth your time!

Some breathtaking views and scenery. Beautiful. On the road to Milford. I wouldn't come here as a destination but as a stop is awesome.

While camping in any location in the area will provide beautiful scenery, this DOC site is nothing special. There are not a lot of camp sites and it's is altogether too close to the road. There is nothing wrong with camping here if needed, but check out another site first, like Cascade Creek.

From the clearing near the Works Infrastructure Depot there are tracks up the Hydroelectric Penstock Pipe as well as the Emerald Water Fall and The Kiosk Creek Dry Stream Bed that will take you right up to the open mountain tops.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night, and if we get a chance to visit NZ again, we will definitely re-visit.
The whole area is beautiful, and our host, PC Taylor was wonderful. He pointed us multiple awesome trails in the area, and I would recommend all of them. If you are short on time, definitely do the waterfall trail.
Other notes:
1. As the website says, this is in the middle of nowhere. So listen to the man. Bring enough food and fuel. The closest store is 60kms in either direction.
2. Apart from food/fuel, the cabin was comfortable and had other usual necessities - hot water, towels etc. This is not a campsite, it's actually quite comfortable.
3. Bring rain gear. Apparently, it rains for >200 days a year in this region.
4. Do the Milford Sound boat tour. It's totally worth it.response / report this review
