Great spot, fantastic bike ride.
Nice stop when mountain biking down to Ohakune.
Nice views, easy walk
Amazing view.. Note, if you are doing the old coach road ride, cross over look around, use the loo, then cross back. Don't ride down the hill, its very steep and you'll have to walk your bike back up the other side.
Rode up here on the bikes along the Old Coach Road. Great ride and the Viaduct is amazing!
Gentle uphill walk or mountain bike ride for most the way there with a great view of the Ohakune town basin, through native forest, past a railway tunnel you can go inside (a great place to scare the kids), along a cobbled road the early settlers travelled between Auckland and Wellington and a walk along the old train bridge. There is a carpark at the start if you are feeling lazy and want to avoid the walk along the country road from the Ohakune train station.
Walk the old coach road from just outside Ohakune, through regenerating native bush including rainforest ferns, some good lookout points, a spooky old tunnel and the two viaducts over HapuaWhenua Viaduct.
Great history, beautiful bush, interesting walk.
