We loved this hotel. lovely old character hotel on the Main Street.great value for money for accomodation, food and beer! Staff friendly great rural relaxed style hospitality. We stayed in a renovated ensuite room upstairs with lovely views to the surrounding stunning hills very nicely done, complete with double glazing which blocked out main road passing truck noise. Bed was more comfortable than any others we struck on our trip around NZ, beer was the cheapest. We enjoyed a generous dinner of bangers and mash for my husband and I found the small chicken nachos perfect size and delicious such good value we decided to eat in for breakfast which was equally great and the first time I've ever seen my husband defeated and unable to finish the Hampden big breakfast! This experience made overnight in Murchison one of the highlights of our NZ road trip.

Great bar for a quick bite. Range of burgers and menu meals was very well priced and tasty. Friendly and unassuming. Plenty of space.

Very bad first experience in the restaurant. We had to wait almost an hour for our food to be served (3 meals). Others in the venue that ordered after us were served their meals a lot quicker than us. The food was tasteless. Not worth $30+

Very disappointing. Wasted $100 on 3 tasteless meals. Wouldn't recommend to anybody. Luckily the Four Square across the road was looking after the locals.

I had to get accommodation in a hurry due to cancelled flights. I could not have got a more helpful response. Very accommodating, thanks heaps for the west coast hospitality. It's true:)

Rude, uninterested restaurant staff that sighed audibly as we ordered. The fish and chips were frozen and tossed in deep fryer. Sorry to inconvenience you with our business.

Posting only about the restaurant downstairs - worst fish and chips we've had in New Zealand!
