Had a very nice Pilsner. Lovely hint of passion fruit. The owner was very friendly and told us of some of the history in the place.

Great selection on tap (20 beers). Tasting of 5 beers is $10. 2 imported German beers. Lovely garden. German owner/manager, I think.

Loved this little gem of a pub! Best craft beer selection I've seen in the South Island. Cozy and homey. Amazing pizza. Great hospitality. Beautiful beer garden with giant chess as well.

What a treasure - German authentic food as well as other Kiwi and other nationalities. Awesome atmosphere, staff were really friendly and helpful. Overall, a great night with friends, good food, and amazing decor.

Awesome place with great service, excellent food, and wide variety of craft beers. Also has a big fenced area which is great for letting the kids run around in.

Delicious. Had the Mexican burger (not usually my choice at a German bier Hall in NZ) and it was fantastic. Close to my best meal in New Zealand! Wiesenthal beer was great too!

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to after 30 something countries and years of travels, everything about this place is exemplary. It truly shows how much the owner cares about this place. Great beer garden and excellent/authentic German cuisine.

Wide selection of beers, different every month! Owner Detmar is very friendly and fair guy. Food is also very good. Try russian roullete pizza if you think you can handle it!

The food and beer was great, but the real highlight of this place is the owner. Not only was he friendly and funny, he was beyond generous. He made us feel right at home, took our orders personally, AND offered us to park our camper van on his property since we were looking for camp sites. I highly highly recommend going and supporting this phenomenal business.
