I have been very impressed by the recent renovations/enhancements and said so at the bakery and checkout. We live in Port Chalmers(both pensioners in our 70s) but buy at Countdown because it is cheaper (especially meat for us) and has more choice than our local 4 square (though staff at Port are very nice ). We have pet likes too: chocolate ring cake, surimi, in store-made bread, salmon on special, thick crisps and my wife's favorite sweet Montel sautern wine when on special. Staff are always friendly: me being a novelist I enjoy interaction with staff and waiting customers nearby. Parking is also great. Not the fuss of the local New World where there is clutter and sometimes cost. So there's feedback: we like you (actually like both the Andersons Bay sites too when sometimes seeking that elusive sweet wine). We don't like the cheap bread however as it dries too quickly. I use your loyalty card but don't get much benefit: could be room for a pensioner bonus or gold card cut. The few pennies saved are big for us!! One point: I know elderly people who dress up, get the free bus from Port and even buy things they don't need just to get out and to talk to someone in your shop. Good reason there for keeping up the friendly exchange!! Ta

Classic university cafe, mostly faculty and staff due to prices. Good food and excellent coffee. Very upbeat staff. Lots of vegetarian options. Nice outdoor seating in season. Kid friendly but hardwood floors make indoor voices and good behavior a must.

Countdown Dunedin Central
All through the refit & still not quite finished. The staff the have been brilliant & as helpful as always. That's why I keep going back . They remember you & make you feel welcome. I've worked in retail & also in sales in the grocery industry over 45 years & the staff are keepers😊

Pretty good in terms of stock range and availability. Prices are reasonable for a non-budget supermarket. Also, easy access with convenient parking.

Countdown Central Dunedin is good fun with all the renovations, quietly strolling around every aisle looking at products that don't usually interest me. Will be great it is all finished.

A good supermarket. Car park was handy to park and get a few other shops done before getting groceries but strict rules about only parking while you shop and parking wardens who are regularly checking has meant i prefer to go elsewhere now.

I have been shopping in this supermarket since 1996 and have always gone back to shop in this place regardless our few moves over the years. I only give it 4 stars because of the awful customer service I got when I tried to ask for help with regards to a cash out that I forgot to get. I wasn't convinced that they looked into the matter despite all the effort and evidence I had. I acted ASAP in a matter of less than an hour after the incident but they couldn't be bothered. This happened to me in another supermarket and there was a huge difference in response. New World was better in dealing with this.

Be careful buying their meat. Often when buying meat there it can go off way before the best before date and for me it is pointless traveling back into town just to exchange it. Sometimes the avocados are over ripe. Sometimes things are not in stock example salmon the other day there was no fresh ones. Other than that good place to shop

I have been shopping her recently and yesterday I had a great experience in the deli as the assistant actually came out from behind the counter to help us. What a great staff member ! The store could do with better labelling on the aisles and less car park nazi's otherwise I would give it a five star for service !

This is our regular supermarket. Never had any issues, and generally whenever we go there we come out satisfied. Good selection of fruit and vege. Approximately 10-12 isles for the rest of the shelved items, and a good selection of both chilled and frozen foods around the outer edge of the store. We now buy roughly 50% of our weekly grocery shops online via Countdowns online presence, and thankfully this store has recently been added to the list of available pick up locations (far closer for us than the old store we used to have to pick up from)
