If you like this sort of thing then its great but long drive on unsealed roads to get to
Amazing formation. The drive there would add an extra hour and a half to your trip, but totally worth the drive.
An amazing spot. You must pay a small fee to get in. The spot where you put your money was just about spilling over. Honest people and a popular spot.
Whilst the walk is about 200-250 metres it is across an uneven surface. Bring decent walking shoes. There are some slopes prior to getting to the cliffs.
Once there, you will agree that they are nothing but majestic.
Whilst I didn't walk right into the area some people have obviously done so in the past.
I wouldn't encourage going up to high fur two reasons. Safety is a concern as these cliffs are quite crumbly. I would also hate to see toys wonder eroded by the visitors.
Safe travels
Great natural landscape but approximately five kilometres of dirt road. The road was very corrugated at parts making a very slow drive. Entrance fee is $5.00 but is worth it if you dont mind the rough and dusty drive
Wonderful cliffs, worth the dusty drive and small donation via any honesty box
I love hoodoos and badlands as much as the next guy. But is this really the best Otago can offer? Either way, it's a really fun spot, I will come back here.
Despite the road being bumpy that is whole part and parcel of private land and heading to the Clay Cliffs, hence the reason why it is best to pay $5 (honesty box) so the road can be maintained.
The Clay Cliffs are stunning. Who would have thought that we have something like this in NZ. Once you have walked up and in it feels like you are in a different place. It is a must see. We went right up inside the cliffs and were just blown away by how absolutely beautiful it is.
It is worth the walk up into these cliffs.
Well worth treking into to get up close with the cliff, almost like being on a different continent
Cool scenery. Worth a climb if you're up for it, but even looking up is great.
Not so popular, but good view tho. Driving there was a bit pain, because the road is not so good. Took me about 20mins after state high way.
Something different and off the beaten track.
No idea if these are natural or man-made, but they are pretty to look at.
The river nearby is pretty, but was freezing cold when I dipped my hand in despite it being a hot day.
The road is just a simple gravel track, so very bumpy and dusty, gives your suspension a good workout. Probably best to avoid it if you're worried about getting your car dirty.
Amazing cliffs with tracks leading into the belly of them. Respect the land as you will be on private property, however you'll have ample opportunity to take in the magnificence of the landscape. If you're keen, you can make your way down to the stream for some stone skimming or just to take it all in.
