worst Hostel I've been to yet. The owners are incredibly nasty and charge you money where ever they can. Never again!

By far the best hostel in New Zealand! I had the most incredible time at Bob and Maxine's. Both Bob and Maxine are extremely kind, generous, inviting, and knowledgeable people. They helped me decide which hikes to do, companies to book activities with, and cities to visit. The hostel itself is the cleanest hostel I have stayed in. It has amazingly large (private!) bathrooms, a fireplace, a lot of couches and comfortable chairs (some even recline), and a great kitchen and dining area. The beds are comfortable, and the common area always felt warm and inviting. I extended my stay with them because it truly felt like home. The setting is also incredibly beautiful! Grab one of their free bikes and ride into town and see for yourself :) you won't regret it!

It is the best backpacker accommodation I have ever been. Very friendly family. Wonderful livingroom and big kitchen equipment. Everything is clean!! You can also use free wifi.

I don't leave reviews very often but in this instance I had to make an exception. I've been travelling with my partner for 5 months so far and I can't think of any where else that has had the same level of hospitality. Maxine was by far and away the loveliest host I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The atmosphere of the place is so laid back. The beds were lovely, the kitchen lovely and the lounge area a perfect place to unwind. Maxine diligently stoked the wood burning fire which made it a perfect place to come back. Very homely. If I'm lucky enough to return to this part of the world I shall certainly be looking to stay here. I really cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you Maxine for making it such an enjoyable experience.

One of the best hostels I stayed at. Super friendly laid back owner. Towels included, spacious bathroom and shared areas. Big fully equipped kitchen. Great views.
You'll need maybe some kind of lift as its a little out of the village.
