Not really satisfied about my stay at the Black Sheep, the rooms where noisy and the kitchen very small. However the hostel is centrally located en the WiFi is ok.

Good option to stay away from party and kiwiexperience in town. Spa pool and free bike hire is a plus. Also friendly customer service.

Good price, friendly staff. I booked before check the review. And when I saw the review many ppl give bad review. I was regret book here. But when I check in. Everything was nice. The room is tidy and staff very friendly. So I don't understand why so many bad reviews.
Maybe they change and getting better.

Overall a good backpackers with an excellent spa, kitchen, common area and views. BUT given a 3/5 because the loudest door slamming at 3-5am for an entire week I've ever encountered, entire building shakes. If you don't like sleeping then it's a 4.

Definitely the WORST HOSTEL IN NZ! management is VERY bad, staff unfriendly and careless, place is very dirty. Their rules are strict as for customers arrive there at 1PM, they don't allow to check in abit early, it must be 3pm. Theres no parking space, its all full. We were confused that we have numerous baggages from big to medium to drop off, and they assigned our room is in top floor. No lift, but just a stair outside while its raining and wet, its nearly impossible to get our baggages to second floor as it is slippery. We booked via Agoda for two nights and the payment is at property in cash, we know that if we cancel our booking less than 48 hours, it will charge full for 2 nights price. As we feel this property didn't meet our expectation, we asked them to help us give only recover for 1 night price, but they denied our request and strictly straight charge us 2 nights full price with 3% credit card fee. Not recommended and not really worth as one night price is quite pricey.
I also wrote a review in their Tripadvisor, and they just delete my post. I guess they hid their true colors and maintain their good review all the time. Careful with this trap accomodation.

Well positioned backpackers. Be careful they will to and charge you for any existing damage and no condition report is completed!

A nice well managed backpackers inn. Stayed in a nice 2 bed room. Liked that the heaters worked really well

Good place for students who has never travelled and are strapped for cash. Horrid for those above 20 and has travelled far and wide. We're only here because the person who got here first was too lazy to check out the other place across town.

Male toilets are clean, female toilets are dirty.

    The staff were friendly.

Rooms were clean, floors looked dirty but clean.

Wifi is good but bad depending on time and how many people use it.

    8 minute walk to town.

Overall, great place for students, bad place for adults.

    Good points:
    Friendly staff

    Bad points:
Other tenants are noisy and drunk beyond 4am. Toilet is cramped and has no place to hang anything properly, leading to clean clothes being dropped into the shower. Female toilets were bad, male toilets aren't that bad since most of the guys here don't use it often.

Curtains, lights and powerpoints/usb at every bed. Good location, very short walk to town centre without the bustle of being on a main street. Free parking all around.

Had issues with the cleanliness of the bed sheets upon arrival. Was eventually fixed, but the first person we spoke to didn't seem to really care about how we felt.
    Cheap I guess.

Long story short, my friend left a jacket here accidentally and intended to come back in a few days time so asked them to get it from the room and hold it for him. The person on the phone didn't even bother to check the room and said it'd already been taken. Weirdly, he was able to find it several days later even though the person on the phone insisted she had looked

My friend is probably the most placid person on the planet and got slightly annoyed by this meaning that the establishment is probably one of the shittest on earth. Never go here unless you want to lose your jacket and have no one to help you get it back.

I stayed at the blacksheep backpacker for 4 weeks, I really enjoyed my time at this hostel. I will always remember this place, with a wonderful view! People working there are very friendly and helpful. Now, they are making some works, so it's going to be even better!
