Got there late at night beceause of the ferry, The owner kept harassing us beceause of the checkout ( not there yet) and then when we paid he added some fees for one of us. He also told us that one of us ( a women) ran away without paying while we were just men. Than came back saying that our friend ran away again while he was in his tent. Really bad and awkward experience. He finally took a picture of our license and ran away. Such a weird and insulting fellow

No one at the office from 8PM until 7AM at least. Trains went by on the overhead rails around 2100, 2300 and 0600 hours. The glow worms were cool. There were not many people there.

All you need before going back to or coming from north island. The only con is thar you must pay for wifi. Rather have it included.

We stayed at a lot of Holiday Parks during our time in New Zealand, and this is probably the only one we wouldn't stay at again. The train tracks going right over our site was disruptive to sleep, and it was the only unfriendly service experience we had our entire vacation.
Facilities were all right, but overall experience was not great.

Rented a cabin here, we got a 5-person cabin for just 2 persons! As we had to pack the suitcases because we did not take the car from Wellington to Picton, it was good to have this spacious cabin to sort everything out again for our trip. The parking spaces aside the cabins are quite small, it two neighbors both have a 4WD at their disposal, one of them probably has to find another parking spot. Did not use much of the facilities; but the shower is very simple.

For those who like to see big trains, there is a train bridge over the park which is just by trains getting and taking cargo to and from the harbor. Take into account that this could cause some noise, but we slept through (although a few trains passed).

Nothing has changed from the previous reviews which I should have checked before booking.
I get the feeling that patrons are really at the disposal of this park, given the amount of us that left in the morning to catch the early ferry.
It's WAY overpriced and the trains really are a big shock in the early hours of the morning.
Everything in Picton is overpriced so do yourself a favour and just book something a little less shabby.
In regard to the host. We interacted as little as possible, I got the feeling this was best.

I stay regularly at this camp in my bus The present camp owners are to be congratulated on the improvements to the grounds and the new bright and clean paintwork. The showers are always hot.
Sometimes I have camped near or in the bush and other times on a sunny site with views to watch the trains. They are fascinating as they cross the viaduct bridge. The owners have been obliging and have stored my van in the camp while I have travelled over seas. They will also store bikes and gear while visitors do the Marlborough Walk. The bonus for me is that I have been allowed to have my dog in the camp. Responsible dog owners are welcome. The supermarket Is just 5 min walk through the bush alongside the stream.
