The favourite part of my trip to Nepal. Perfect way to learn about Tibetan culture and history without actually going to Tibet. The tour guide is an incredible story teller with a wealth of knowledge about Tibet.

    Cannot recommend more!

This was such a memorable experience. If you want the opportunity for a truly authentic look into Tibetan history and way of life, you must do this. The best part, by far, is Thupten. So knowledgeable, so passionate, you will be hanging on his every word. I can’t say enough good things about this experience and I am so thankful to have gained the insight from Thupten.

I had a great half day tour with Thupten. He is passionate about sharing the Tibetan challenges and culture. The carpet weaving was amazing and the museum interesting and thought provoking. Finished off with a delicious lunch. Thanks for a very memorable and inspiring day.

The tour with Thumpten was an absolute highlight of my time visiting here. He was thorough, passionate, and humorous too. The tour was both educational and experiential. It is a great service that he is providing for tourists and his people.

We are so glad we spend the day with Thupten learning about Tibet, Tibetan refugees, Buddhism, and the Dalai Lama. We observed or participated in a range of activities - morning prayers at the monastery, a Tibet breakfast, conversation with a monk, consultation with a traditional doctor, the Tibetan refugee museum, and learning how hand-knotted carpets are made. I highly recommend this tour!

A very well organised tour that gives you great insight into the Tibetan history, it’s food and culture. I’ve always been interested in knowing more about Tibet and particularly it’s practice of Buddhism and this tour was a great introduction to that. Thupten speaks perfect English and it’s very happy answer as many questions as you have, come with some! He’s put together a tour that’s educational, interesting but also has a very intimate feel to it, like you’re spending the day with your Tibetan friend going to local spots and getting that authentic experience that we’re all looking for. I highly recommend.

    Simply perfect!

Thupten is a fantastic guide, his attention to detail and knowledge makes the tour very involved within the Tibetan culture and traditions. It really made the difference having him explaining the prayer and to take us to have some traditional butter tea and Tibetan food.

Also having the opportunity to talk with Taxi, a Tibetan monk, was very interesting and helped us understand the daily life of the monastery and of their lives.

All in all, this was among the best experiences we had while in Pokhara (and that is saying a lot!)

I had recently availed the services of Thupten for my trip to Muktinath from Kathmandu. I must say this has been the best managed trip ever that I have done. All the arrangements were top notch and there was no room for any complaint. For all the places of visit and the mode of transportation he had a back-up plan available. Our flights got cancelled twice and within a matter of a few minutes he had a vehicle ready. To top it all, he has connections all over Nepal which made travel a breeze and I would strongly recommend him for any travel in Nepal and Tibet.

Fantastic experience! So much knowledge about Tibet, Buddhism and the situation of the refugees. You’ll get to see breathtaking monasteries and beautiful ceremonies as well as Thipten as your authentic, knowledgeable and extremely kind guide (fluent English) who will teach you so much! Must do!

We spent one full day with Tibetan encounter. It was a really great experience ! We learned a lot about Tibetan culture (politics, history, schools, medicine, cooking, buddhism, handicrafts).

It helped us to fully understand the tibetan issue (which should be better known worldwide ).

Thupten was really available for all our questions, and it is clear that he keeps updating his knowledge to give us the best informations. We won't forget that day !

This tour gives you great insights into Tibetan Culture, you will hardly get on your own. Learn a lot from the guide and get the chance to speak with a Monk and a Doctor very openly.
We learned far more in this one day tour, then on our 17 days trekking in Himalaya!

I've known Thupten for years and, in fact, was one of his first customers when he started his business. It was a wonderful tour then, and in the years since he's only improved. If you want an authentic experience that will introduce you to Tibetan culture and customs, this is the tour to take.

For anyone interested in the Tibetan culture and whom is eager to learn about it! We booked the full day tour, his AirBnB and also went on one of his short treks. You have the opportunity to talk to Tibetans, monks and all kinds of people connected to this culture, get to know about their lives and history. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, Thupten or any of the people you encounter will gladly and openly answer them.
Thupten is a pleasure to be around, you'll immediately notice that he's very passionate and knowledgeable about his culture and history. This tour reflects just that.

Thupten was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide with a seemingly never ending base of knowledge on Tibet’s history and it’s people. Our tour today included a trip to a monastery, one-on-one questions with a young monk, evening prayers/chants at the nearby Tibetan settlement, and finally tea at one of the homes within the settlement. Definitely walked away with a unique understanding of the culture and Tibetan people!

The Tibetan Encounter tour was an amazing experience. I had heard about the Tibetan refugee settlements and wanted to visit them but I also wanted to experience the culture first hand and talk with Tibetan people directly.

The tour was exactly what I was looking for! Thupten, our tour guide is a wealth of knowledge about Tibet and we got to experience so much of what we would not be able to without him, we even got to speak with a monk! Highly recommended.

Thupten Gyatso's passion brings the Tibetan tour and reality to life. I spent many weeks with Thupten learning about his amazing culture and the circumstances people living in Nepal face as a Tibetan. It is gripping, sad, hopefully, historic. It can't help but open ones eyes to Reality. The respect and passion and knowledge Thupten has about the Tibetan people is nothing short of amazing. I also stayed with Thupten at his Air BnB accommodation. His home is the best in every way. His Tibetan cooking is incredible I gained a ton in 5 plus weeks. If you love culture and history and true facts take this amazing opportunity for a once in a lifetime look through the eyes of a Tibetan man.
    Sincerely,
    Connie G. Surrey Canada

Thupten was knowledgeable and very pleasant. We had a lovely time, full of experiences you would not be able to have otherwise - we spoke to a Tibetan monk, had breakfast in a home within the Tibetan settlement, and so much more. 100% worth the money.
