The days I spent on the Annapurna Base Camp Trail have been the most memorable ones in my life (yet!) and most of the credit goes to Amit and the Polar Trekking & Expedition team. I feel so lucky to have contacted Amit, as he made sure our trek was super smooth, super exciting as well as filled with fun and adventure.

Taking care during every meal, taking appropriate rests, looking out for any minor niggles, health issues or injuries, stopping to sight birds and mountain goats, humming along Neil Young songs, sharing his experiences of 20 years of treks, trails and life Amit was extraordinary company and guidance for the trek. So much that I've promised to do 5 treks in the next 5 years with him! He has reserves of experience and wisdom along with immense humility, and never makes you feel unfit or slow, and motivates you to carry on.

Actually, I could go on writing forever, but if you are looking for a trustworthy, caring team to take your responsibility (in the real sense) and make your trip safe and pleasurable, please walk up to Polar Trekking team without hesitation. The itinerary will be created according to your preferences and fitness levels, all the passes/ permits, transport, accommodation and meals will be taken care of, and you'll learn a lot about the mountains and the culture as an added bonus!

Also, whenever you visit Pokhara and go to their office, do say a 'Hi' from me! :)

If you are looking for a highly experienced guide to arrange the picture-perfect, safe, comfortable, adventurous, and fun trek in the Everest or Annapurna region look no further! Thanks to Amit, we had the time of our lives on our 3 Passes Everest trek! He arranged a perfect trekking experience, from hiring a helicopter to get us safely to the mountains to begin our trek on time when all flights to Lukla were cancelled due to weather (many other groups got stuck in the airport and could not find a way to the mountains for days), to securing the best/cleanest tea houses even during high season when they fill up fast, to booking the most reliable airline for our flight back to KTM from Lukla, to having the kindest and friendliest porters (s/o to Mingma and Mony!!), and to even little things like bringing along snickers bars and cookies to surprise/congratulate us at the top of a pass/peak on the most difficult days (it will be the best-tasting snickers you’ve ever had after 3 hours of climbing at 5,000m+ altitude). Amit is so kindhearted and will do anything to make sure you are comfortable, safe, and having the time of your life. None of us got sick at all during our trek, thanks to the clean food served at our tea houses and Amit ensuring we climbed up at a safe pace to avoid any symptoms from the altitude. Beyond arranging the perfect trek, Amit is a joy to be around - which certainly matters when you spend over 2 weeks together with your guide all day nonstop! We shared many laughs playing card games together with Amit, Mingma, and Mony almost every evening at the tea houses, Amit sang along with us when we were singing folk songs along the trail and taught us about Nepalese culture, and overall we had a blast together. Couldn’t ask for a better experience - what a trip to remember!

My girlfriend and I found Polar Trek in the internet planning our trekking in Himalaya many months before Flying to Nepal. We chose them among at least 20 other agencies both in Pokhara and Kathmandu. The communication via e-mail was very efficient and easy: they replied always prompt and were always helpful and polite. At the end we also asked them to organise for us the safari in Chitwan Park and the transfers from Kathmandu to Pokhara (flight) and from Chitwan to Kathmandu again (by private car). Everything worked smooth and for us the whole experience was great.
We had the trek to the Mardi Himal Base Camp: Amit (our guide, also the owner of the agency) and Bejay (our porter) took care of us completely. They were very organised and at each camp where we slept we were welcomed as friends. Moreover, they explained us a lot about habits and the life in Nepal / the Himalayas, the plants, the animals and the nature in general through the whole walk.
The tour that Amit planned for us was simply breathless, full of lovely landescapes and completely surrounded by the nature. Beyond words the view on Annapurna South, Machapuchare and Mardi Himal on day 4th and also the last day of trekking. Amit guided us through rice fields and for the whole day we met no other tourist and just a couple of people. Simply wonderful.
Amit and Bejay are very nice persons: they are very very polite. One can really interact with them in a nice way, talk, learn and become friend withouth feeling “pushed” or “bothered”. We had really a great time with them and for sure we will go back to the Himalayas in the future and we will rely on Polar Trek again.

I discovered Polar Trekking & Expedition by coincidence and it sure was a happy coincidence for me!
After searching for and comparing various options of organizing my EBC trek I stumbled upon Polar agency and decided to give it a shot. From the very first words we exchanged with Amit Tamang, the Operation Director I had a gut feeling I was in good hands. Amit explained all the ins and outs of the trek in a very professional and friendly manner. He was very receptive to my needs and hopes. He also suggested using a guide/porter from Lukla rather than having to fly him/them from Kathmandu (as all the competitors suggested). This, by itself saved me a few hundreds of $$ for unnecessary transporting folks back and forth.
As a result not only did I get a great, custom-tailored yet reasonably-priced trip but I also got to meet/ hike with the local Sherpas, who know these trails by heart and offer their own personal stories of the land.
It's also worth mentioning that Amit was always extremely helpful and responsive (remotely, from Pokhara)- answering my requests for practical advice re: gear, luggage etc. as well as helping out very efficiently with my little problem with flight cancellation/ schedule changes and arranging the resulting ticket refund. Staying in contact with Amit through email and cellphone made me feel that I was indeed in good hands and cared for, not only before but also during and after the trek. Amit is a very dependable and resourceful professional and also a very friendly person, a pleasure to deal with. I also found out that he's a Himalayan guide himself, and a good one, too! I for sure know now, whom I would like to arrange my next Himalaya trek with and maybe even ask to be the guide if available!
In conclusion, I highly recommend Polar Trekking and Expedition for anyone's trekking needs in Nepal- it's run by people who understand and appreciate both the mountains and those who venture into them.

Working with Amit, in the office, and Alon, on the trail, was by far the best decision we made for our 2 treks in Nepal and I cannot recommend them as a company more. Our first trek was on the Annapurna Circuit this past October and Alon, as our porter/guide, was not only experienced and informative but was extremely upbeat, positive and easy to get along with. He became a good friend on the trek, not only because of his mellow yet friendly personality but because he helped us avoid disaster when the big snowstorm struck when we were at high elevation. We all made it down safely and we are grateful to Alon for the role he played in that. As for Amit, the Director of Operations, he was highly informative and very helpful in securing our permits. He also recommended a 2nd trek and though we didn't book a porter or guide this time, he gave us all the information we needed free of charge.

It is also good for potential trekkers to know that Polar Trekking is guide owned and operated which means that the entire fee you pay goes directly to the guides and porters and not a foreign owner in a distant country. They are also certified by TAAN, the Tourism Assoc. of Nepal.

Again, we had an amazing time working with Polar Trekking, would definitely go through them again on a future trek, and cannot recommend them enough.

I highly recommend Polar Trekking and Expedition for any trek in the Nepal Himalayas. During my first visit to Nepal in October 2012, I decided to trek to Annapurna Base Camp. I asked my guesthouse staff to suggest a guide. I was hoping to leave the following day but was told, "if you want the best guide wait a day". Amit Tamang, co-owner of Polar Trekking, was an excellent guide. He is well informed about all geographic features encountered on the trek, as well as the local culture. He has exceptional communication skills, in fact, another trekker I met who had hired a guide with less than adequate English skills (he couldn't respond to any question the trekker asked him) was so thankful to Amit that he tipped him and wound up using him on future treks.
This past spring, Amit was my guide with two other trekkers on the Three Passes Trek, including Everest Base Camp and Kalla Pathar. Once again, Amit was an exceptional guide. He paced us perfectly and insured that we were properly prepared for the trek. Amit is extremely friendly and it's always a pleasure to be with him in the mountains.

Excellent company, probably the best in Pokhara if not Nepal!
Experienced and super friendly English speaking guides that know what they are doing and take very good care of you. Go with them and I'm sure you'll have an unforgettable time.

    Highly recommended!
