Spent 5 weeks here. Awesome familiar atmosphere, best food for reasonable prices und simple but clean rooms. Definitely go for the buckwheat pancakes and the dhal bhat of course!

It was a wonderful stay in the Nawaranga Hotel. I stayed for 5 weeks and had the best food in Dhulikhel (try the Pancakes, French press organic coffee, Banana Lassi, French Toast and the Momos with mustard sauce!!) and a rooftop terrace to relax. The whole Shrestha Family was very friendly, funny and gave me the feeling to be at home. The dinig room is cozy and full of paintings from local artists and Purna, the owner, knows countless stories about them. I loved it!!!

Very nice and traditional place to eat. Cozy dining room that shifts you a little bit back in time into the earlier days of Dhulikhel. While you have food, you can flick through some nice paintings.
Quality food and very reasonable prices. You can have great Egg Thukpa for only 130 Rps! Also the Chow Mein is super tasty.
Also a great place for having breakfast because they make quite good pancakes and their Masala Tea is a must try!
You can also stay over night here. It's a full Guesthouse where they offer rooms.

Great stop before trekking to Namo Buddha! My friend and I found this place in her guide book, but we were hesitant to go in because it didn't look like much. We were so excited afterward that we listened to the book! The restaurant is run by this sweet older man. The walls and ceiling of the restaurant are covered with pieces of art. While we waited for our food the man set piles of paintings in front of us. We explained that we couldn't buy anything because we were trekking, but he said he just wanted us to see the art. We ate vegetable fried rice and it was delicious! Wonderful, relaxing stop before our trek.

Nawaranga is a classic Nepali restaurant and at the same time it isn't. On the inside there's a huge art gallery with many nice paintings of mountain-views and other interesting scenes from life in Nepal.
It looks antique and might not be pristine but it certainly has it's special atmosphere which is created mainly by it's owner. He will serve you delicious pancakes, curry or my favourite sampa porridge and talk about Nepal, religion, art, poetry - about life itself :-) enjoy! Because I did everytime I came.

With 43 Years it is the oldest Hostel in Dhulikhel and was all the time in the same Hands. You will also find a lots of Paintings from local Artists. These Artist and other interesting local People are visiting this place often to drink a tee and have nice chat. The owners have a lot of experience with visitors. You will come to an intellectual atmosphere where you can have exciting discussions. I heard a lot of things about Nepal what is normally hidden from the normal Tourist. They have also an little restaurant with tasty, organic products. You have to try the Garlic-Tomato Soup. I spend over one week there and could really relax and enjoy my time. The prizes are fair, 500 NR a night. By the way, they have also an little Library in different Languages.I can only say; Try the Garlic.Tomato Soup!
