I spent 10 days with Govinda and his beautiful family, but could easily have stayed much longer as it really did feel like home. Chatana, his wife, cooks delicious, traditional dishes using seasonal, fresh, organic vegetables from the garden and I got to help her with food preparation and learn about Nepalese cooking. We also all made momos together one afternoon which was so much fun! The farm is in a stunning location by Begnas Lake with views of the Himalayas. Such a quiet and tranquil place where I got to enjoy and relax with plenty of downtime for self reflection. Govinda taught me much about working the land and I got to help with many tasks including; milking the cow, planting crops, building supporting bamboo structures and weeding. It was extremely rewarding. I also got to spend time with their playful son Siddartha and help him with his homework. Overall I would highly recommend this homestay experience. Govinda and his family truely put in so much effort to make your stay as comfortable and traditional as possible while making you feel a part of the family. Will definitely be returning! Let me know how the tomatoes go Govinda! :)
What to say. Living, eating and laughing along side the Govinda, his wife Chetana and son Siddhartha was an absolute joy. The eco farm is situated on a mountain side over looking the Annapurna mountain range and begnas lake with stunning views. Anyone interested in organic farming, Nepali cooking or just a great time with a beautiful family, I couldn’t think of a better pick.
Nice place
Las mejores vistas de los Himalayas y el lago Begnas, comida exquisita, habitación cómoda y limpia y los dueños son la gente más linda.
Mountain View Eco Farm is established with common objective among our board members from different countries to create eco-friendly environment for visitors, learning centre and set an exemplary organic farm for sustainable and healthy food production.
It is vital that Nepal learns about, and commits to, organic farming as a route to sustainable and healthy food production for the future. our goal is to establish an organic (eco) farm close to an urban population as an educational and training center, Mountain View Eco Farm (MVEF)
Foreign volunteers who wish to render their services in of organic agriculture at our Eco Farm can work in the fields of education, health, community development, environment, ecology, hunger, etc. In addition to this, the Nepali culture that will be experienced is rich and completely rewarding extending from daily life to traveling to festivals around the country. We can also visit surrounding villages to experience a more traditional form of Nepalese culture. Nepali culture is distinctively friendly and open and volunteers are made to feel as though they are part of the family.
Here there is plenty of adventure, such as white water rafting, trekking the Annapurna Circuit, a visit to Royal Chitwan National Park, elephant safari, and much more. A popular place to visit is the birth place of Lord Buddha in Lumbini. Volunteers also have the opportunity to participate in and learn about local festivals.
Volunteers, visitors, researchers, students and others are heartily welcomed to join the program on their own, with their children, with partners, or group of friends.
we are just establishing our Eco Farm, so at this point we need more financial than physical support. But being a farm, we need physical labor too; it would be great if you have some specific knowledge in building or helping start a farm.
Unfortunately, we can't afford to provide food and lodging in a straight-across exchange for labor. Your contribution is used, not only for your food and lodging, but also to help us establish the farm, employ local labor, and save for our training hall. With the training hall, we'll offer education in organic farming to farmers from all over Nepal, along with school groups to show kids early how important organic farming.
If you are interested in volunteering at our Farm, email us so that the price of your contribution can be determined. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to email us some more!
