This is one of the worst airport I have flied out of.
Here’s what I observed:
1. The ceiling was leaking water.
2. There’s is no notice board that says which flight they are checking in for. However they announce it.
3. No proper sign outside that says there’s an airport here.
4. You don’t need to be psychic to realize that a good amount of money is being devoured by senior officials and politicians of the area. Considering there were a lot of people flying out of this airport. Which means good amount of money is coming into this airport.
5. Some of the police officers were helpful and cooperative.
6. The toilets are ‘squat-type’.
The Gautam Buddha Airport located in Bhairahawa will be the second international airport in the country to relief pressure currently sustained by the congested Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).[3]The contract to upgrade the airport were awarded to chinese company North-west in October 2014, [4] to complete the project by end of 2017,[5] but it is certain to be pushed back to early 2019 due to the earthquake and the Indian blockade for almost six months. [3]
FacilitiesEdit
The airport resides at an elevation of 358 feet (109 m) above mean sea level. It has one runwaydesignated 10/28 with an asphalt surface measuring 1,510 by 34 metres (4,954 ft × 112 ft)[1] and currently connecting only domestic routes.
UpgradeEdit
The Airport is currently being upgraded into a regional international airport, being Nepal's second international airport. The construction work is expected to be finished in the beginning of 2018. It is planned to have a 3,000-m runway and have six international parking bays. The project will be financed by a loan and grant aid of $42.96 million and $12.75 million, respectively, from the Asian Development Bank [6]
Favourite! Good seats to sit during waiting! But no decent food / drink services ☹️ Else Everything was fine.. Good care for VIP . Security is decently maintained too! But it could have been great if it had new chairs and new paintings because the colours of buildings are vanishing and chairs are in process of rusting so i wish for foreign people lets make impressions on them.. it will be more good if such things gets replaced
Gautam Buddha Airport (IATA: BWA, ICAO: VNBW),[2] also known as Bhairahawa Airport,[1] is an airport serving Siddharthanagar, a municipality in Rupandehi District in Province No. 5 in Nepal. Small and beautiful place but not well maintained
as far as Airport is concerned it's very much dirty unhygienic improper unmanaged and without any good facility
it is the most important airport because majority of Indians visit places in Nepal through this airport
it could be maintained much better
also it handles only small flights that is local flights and no transborder big airplanes visit here
Really good airport.
it facilitates all the WDR and MWDR.
Wish this airport was an exception to what normal people would usually believe - Terai is relatively untidy and mismanaged. Despite of large facility they are not able to manage things.
From the restrooms to the parking lot, it's either dirty or smelly. Airline staffs and security personnel are good and usually respond to queries.
Plus they still have good free WiFi (not the courtesy of Nepal Telecom though).
It is one of the domestic airports in Western flat land of Nepal. This is a small airport in terms of it's air traffic flow. The airport is congested during the peak hours in the afternoon. Due to foggy weather in winter morning time, most of the flights are scheduled during afternoon. The airport has limited infrastructures and not well maintained.
The airport is soon going to be upgraded to international airport.
Just a okay airport with no facilities. This is marked to be a international airport. The runway is quite short. The airport is quite small. It's seems like no maintenance has been done for over a decade. There are pipes leaking. The shop is also bad!
Domestic airport for Nepal.
But soon it will be providing international services too. Soon being Second international airport of Nepal.
Favourite! Good seats to sit during waiting! Everything was fine
Flew in and out. It was fine. There is no air conditioning, but in June the fans were sufficient. Fixed rate taxi to Lumbini will find you when you exit the building.
Under construction in Bhairahawa. Smaller and neat and clean, maintained.
The airport is well maintained. Airport is small and looks similar to other domestic airports in Nepal (except Kathmandu).Flying with Nepal airlines is recommended. Although the airplane is small, flying at low altitude gives close view of the terrain from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa.
The process of construction of the second international airport has begun with invitation for China’s Northwest Civil Aviation Airport Construction Group to sign the contract.
We can find more than 5 domestic flights regularly.
Regional airport is going to be upgraded into regional international airport in progress. It is a gate way for Lumbini (Birth place of Lord Gautam Buddha) sacred place in Lumbini, Nepal.
Most beautiful airport. I like it..
So nice. Good service.
