Lhakpa is a very poor manager. Full of abuses and selfishness. She should be removed from the post. Once they take money, they don’t entertain you. She told me to eat less during the trek (the food was included in the package) as it was costly for them AND to tip the porter not less than 500$ and when I said that it is too much, she said ‘poor people should carry their own stuff and not take porter’s services’. She called me poor?!! I paid 2000$ for this trek! Why don’t you tip that much yourself Lhakpa? Or your company Asian Trekking! They know one won’t come back once they trek so they try to demean everything. This organization will ruin your experience.

Went on a self-designed trip way off the beaten path, away from the usual tours full of other westerners, guided by Asian Trekking, in ‘96.
They did a great job, were unerringly cheerful, honest, helpful, well organized, flexible, and skilled.
I assume the cost was less since there were no US-based offices to support, but most importantly to us, we were directly paying locals, and contributing to their economy.
We even climbed a 20,000’ trekking peak, with our guide. This was on our agenda, and we were equipped for it, but were pleased to find that our guide was a skilled and careful alpinist

One of the most poorly managed and operated agencies from Nepal. Asian Trekking claims to have 35 years of experience and to have worked with clients like Nat Geo and Discovery, but I find this hard to believe. We were 10 people on a guided hike to Annapurna Base Camp with Asian Trekking. In 2019, the teahouses at ABC were destroyed due to heavy snow accumulation and avalanches. This was common knowledge in Nepal, but Asian Trekking failed to inform us of the change in the situation and the subsequent change in the itinerary. We found out about this on our EBC hike before ABC (which 2 of us did independently and then met 8 other people for the ABC hike with Asian Trekking). When we met Lhakpa Sherpa from Asian Trekking at our hotel in Kathmandu, we asked her about the same and she said, "Yeah, it's possible the itinerary might change", failing to give us a concrete plan and an alternative itinerary. We had also purchased meal packages, and were told by Lhakpa not to eat too much, since the food on the trail was expensive. Once we started the hike from Nayapul, we were informed by our guides that the plan would be to stay at Macchapuchhre Base Camp, instead of ABC, and visit ABC before coming down the next day. They assured us we had confirmed reservations at a teahouse in MBC. However, two days later, when we reached Himalaya, we were told they do not have any accomodation reserved at MBC, and we would have to hike up from Himalaya to ABC and back in a day, which is usually a 2 day affair for most people. The same accomodation fiasco repeated itself at Jhinu, where we reached our teahouse to be informed that our rooms had been given to someone else, and we were put up in another lodge, further away from the main village, which was still under construction. Despite repeated attempts to communicate, there has been no resolution regarding these issues.
