So I love the place, mainly because it is a museum with a solid exhibition, very well preserved ships and materials from ancient age, yet the museum isn't so big that you can actually start loosing your focus, or get bored.

Last time visited they had just opened the new 3D video experience in one of the nave of the exhibition area, and I honestly found it refreshing, it was very well though to be understandable for the most people whatever the age and the country they came from. It was entertaining yet very accurate, and both me and my guest really enjoyed it.

My only complaint, and that's what keeping me from giving a full score, is the signing, which is in very little font and low contrast in most of the places, and it's limited to a bit too few languages. I would appreciate in such a museum if they though a bit more about readability and, eventually, adding some more explanation in other European languages.

A short walk from the ferry service landing and you arrive at the museum, there is a cafe and parking in the grounds.
Entrance cost 100 Kr (£10) and there is a gift shop and toilets within.
The display centres around 3 viking longships burials and is very informative. The ships themselves are not locked away behind glass and allow you a real sense of what life was like.
There is an interesting and informative animation which displays on the roof of one of the exhibits and is well worth seeing.
A very enjoyable place to visit and very informative.

Ships are a fantastic piece of history and worth a visit on there own. The video shows that run every 15mins are also worthwhile and give a good context to the boats. However it is a relatively small museum. Recommend combining with the Museum of Cultural History (Walking distance) for a fuller experience including 1800’s representative Stave Church. Still one of the better options in Oslo for those interested in History.

Really cool museum filled with interesting pieces, including restored viking ships! There are some high viewing areas so you can see inside the ships. There is a really nice projected visualisation with one of the ships that depicts the history without using words, it's extremely beautiful. Student discount for any European student holding valid student ID. Well worth a visit but don't expect your visit to last much longer than an hour or two as there is not a huge amount to see, but you really should go you'll have a great time.

An amazing museum not the biggest but very well done. A must see in my opinion. I loved it and spent a good few hours marvelling at the craftsmanship of the vikings. Go there,do it, you won't be disappointed. The gift shop is reasonable too.

Good displays of the ships and the contents that have been found. Light and airy. Good display explanations in English as well as Nowegian. Well worth a visit.

It's alright. I would have preferred more information re the Vikings and their exploits. It was nice to see an intact ship tho.

Cool viking ships and a lot of detailed viking inventory. A bit small, takes less tan an hour. Very easy to access by bus

I honestly thought it would be bigger than it was but nonetheless I had a good visit. Wish they would have had audio guides instead of a qr scan and go setup but I suppose it helps keep prices down. Really impressive displays and friendly enough staff. Enjoyed that they allowed photography inside. Located on the beautiful little peninsula where other museums like the folk museum are located.
