Phenomenal stay. Right around the corner from activities - Close to the wharf and Bryggen. We actually arrived very late and the staff at front treated us to the evening meal we missed. Breakfast was extravagant and had so many options and our evening meals were just as good. The room was comfortable and the beds were great. We really appreciated the complimentary umbrellas when it was raining and the strong wifi.

I'm no stranger to hotels in Bergen, top five reasons why this is my favourite place to stay:

1. Best. Breakfast. Ever. The selection is incredible, featuring local and Nordic delicacies. Mostly everything – from the jams to breads to smoothies/ juice shots – are homemade, this hotel unlike most others does not feel like a chain.
2. The beds are heaven. I don’t even know how or why, but I want to recreate it! A few of the rooms are quite small, but the beds have been a delight throughout.
3. Free, homemade dinner – what hotel even offers this? Eating out in Norway isn’t cheap, and this hotel offers a simple but decent, homemade meal. If you’re a vegetarian, you might be out of luck/ end up feasting on salad, sorry.
4. Friendliest service I have found in Norway, everyone from reception staff to those serving coffee at breakfast actually smile at you.
5. Location – couldn’t be more peaceful and yet more central.

Top tips to those considering booking this hotel: request a view over the city/ rooftops of Bergen or a bathtub if that’s your thing, as all of the rooms are great but do vary quite a bit. Also, did you know that Bergen is Nordic street art capital? Worth exploring.

Bottom line: I LOVE THIS HOTEL! I will be returning every time I have the chance, sometimes Caps Locks is needed.

While seemingly expensive compared to most hotels in southern Europe it's quite alright compared to other hotels in Norway and definitely more than just lives up to the price tag with amazing breakfast, tasty dinner, great beds and very nice staff. Exceeded my expectations and also offers a great view over Bryggen!
