Centrally located Hotel in Skien

This is an old, venerable venue that has been refurbished nicely. Walking distance to everything when visiting the city of Skien.

My modern corner room (superior, room no 312) with an excellent view into the city were nice and spacious (see my attached photos) and a very comfortable bed.

The interior of the lobby has a nice British smoking club atmosphere.

Breakfast selection was adequate (the usual choice of eggs, baked beans and fritters, plus cold cuts, cereals, etc.) Not the greatest breakfast buffet I've ever had, but did the job.

The staff is very helpful and professional.

Big corner room facing city hall square. Cold during the night. Very bouncy spring bed, could be softer. Great shower, plenty of space. Good breakfast on par with the chain standard. Shows some wear, but decent enough. Full asking price is a bit steep, aging facilities considered.

We stayed here for a week in late November. It is an excellent hotel, staff, extremely helpful and friendly. The receptionist Mich was especially informative, and gave us all the local history, options of what to do we needed, thank you to her.
Food was very good, served in a cosy, warm, friendly atmosphere. Rooms were very clean, quiet and comfortable. We look forward to re-visiting in the summer months.
