Solhov is a beautiful historical building, now functioning as a B&B.
It is nestled between the Lyngen Alps and the fjord and is a good base for all sorts of outdoor and sports activities.
I especially enjoyed hiking up the mountain path that starts right behind the building to experience and photograph the northern lights at a hidden and perfectly reflective lake - the Lyngenfjord is extremely scenic with many hidden gems.
The owners are very friendly people, who know everything about the area and did make an effort to make it a nice stay, I even got to rent out a kayak to circle the small island in the fjord, which is a natural reserve, where rare eagles nest.
After hiking to the cozy mountain huts nearby, one of my highlights was to attend a bonfire BBQ and to relax in a hot tub filled with glacier water right at the shore while observing some small whales, which sometimes did pass right off shore. Northern Norway offers such mazing nature and wildlife!
My room did have a view of the water and mountains, there was a generous and fully equipped kitchen and a nice lounge area to read.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay here. It apparently only started being a guesthouse, still being somewhat of a insider tip to enjoy the nature in peace.
Ærverdig gammel trehusbygning, faktisk det største i Nord Norge. Vel verdt et besøk.
Beautiful place! Too bad it's not more open and taken care of.
