We've been travelling on Airbnb for more than three years in Europe and Asia, apart from hosting in Amstredam. Our one-week stay in Thove's old log cabin is perhaps our most memorable experience ever. When I planned our short summer vacation in Scandinavia, this cabin immediately caught my attention. The proximity of Enebakk from Oslo was also important, since we didn't plan to keep rushing from place to place just for the sake of 'having been everywhere'. Just like our previous travels, we prefer to make a deeper connection with the place we go, which is easily possible here. The cabin is situated in an idyllic part of Norway, where you are given a variety of landscapes and natural views to explore. Hillwalking through the quiet roads leading to Lyseren and Øyeren lakes is I think the best way to stay active while immersing in the area. We also did a short trekking deep into the woods, following the tracks that in the winter become ski slopes. For some crowd, you can easily reach the village nearby Ytre Enebakk on foot, where we actually ran some errands. But most of all, Thove our host was the best part of this holiday. She would do her utmost to cater to our needs and wishes. We took the liberty to taste her impeccable Scandinavian cooking skills, as we had breakfasts and dinners cooked with love and care. She said we were easily pleased but we are actually quite a critic when it comes to culinary experience. And I can tell you her food was creme de la creme. The conversations we had also gave us some insights into Norwegian life and society. This is absolutely a place to return to.
