Friendly staff, cozy facilities and an excellent selection of local beers all make for a perfect place to rest after a long day of hiking in the surrounding mountains.

Great place! Good food, and plenty of bedspace. Though this is not a 5 star hotel, but certainly a 5 star turisthytte! Fantastic hiking oppurtunities with Besseggen nearby!

We knew before that Gjendesheim Turisthytte's standard is somewhere between 2 and 3 stars, all we really wanted was to get some good sleep, so that we would be fresh for our next hiking tour in the mountains.

Unfortunately, our room for 2 persons was tiny (5m²), dirty and nicely located between the buildings entrance and the shower room. Since this building houses toilets and showers for the surrounding buildings and group tents as well, be sure to experience shaking walls, while people leave and enter the building up until around 1 in the night and starting again at 5 in the morning. Even though we used earplugs, we got only 4 hours of sleep. Sleeping outside in a tent or in one of the rooms in the main building might have been the better option.

Other than that, the people working at the reception and in the restaurant did an amazing job. Check in was simple and fast, the food was very tasty compared to other places in this area. The main building is nicely rennovated and offers a very cozy and silent common area to relax and recover from one of the challenging hikes you find in this region.

Excellent hostel with great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Is fairly expensive but in terms of food you get a great feed and plenty of it. Bringing your own sleeping bag liner and towel will help the cost as well. Lovely setting looking out onto the Besseggen Ridge and a great location to start a hike

Great service, food and a surprisingly wide selection of beers. Excellent starting point for walking across Besseggen.

Good food, clean rooms. WiFi and showers are overpriced, even cheaper to roam on 3G than to pay for WiFi. Otherwise a good place to experience the national park
