Excellent hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the hotel grounds and the view were beautiful, the staff was friendly and very helpful and the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very good, but the buffet dinner was the best I have had on my trip so far; perfectly cooked salmon, 2 kinds of lox, meatballs, coldcuts, white fish in a Bernaise sauce, salad with a rainbow of toppings, 6 kinds of dessert! All delicious!

I am only reviewing the restaurant. You first order from the cafe downstairs then go upstairs and find your table. We waited about 20mn before getting our food.
It was lukewarm and the meat was very tough and chewy. We had ordered a menu and we got the desserts 2 mn after getting our main course. Not recommended.

A wonderful place to stay. The Hotel itself is spotless, quiet, and welcoming. Jens and his staff accommodated a range of needs providing laundry, excellent food, and off the beaten path sights. If you need a place to stay while in rural Norway, First Hotel Raftevold is unbeatable.
