This place is a total scam. I prepaid for my car rental, upon returning I was told I still owed more than my original amount.
Four day rental they charged us an extra $135 dollars for insurance we didn't opt for. Beware of hidden costs. Also moved their office during rental period without advising us. Go rent from someplace else.
We have been picking up rental cars a couple of times and it has always been a nightmare but this time we have been welcomed by a young guy with a big smile (Anders Vik) and the first info he gave us was that we were upgraded from a Yaris to a Audi A5 👏🏻👏🏻 The rest of the process was clear and simple, the car was in the basement and we left 10min after arriving! Best car rental exp ever ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Near city center, New models cars in perfect condition, cleans and cheap. Is perfect to rent a car for a trip around the Norwegian fjords.
First-time visit and my subsequent analysis is:
Friendly staff but, and as with essentially all Avis outlets world-wide, they consistently neglect to inform you of any price associated with additional insurance, CDW reduction/waiver and whatnot. I've come accustomed with the extra fees, but from a service perspective it's still dreadful. I've not been a subject of a surprise due to this, it's just very passive.
Incredibly dull fleet of cars, recieved in my mind a car that belonged to a completely different class.
Very illogical placement of rental office and its garage which were on completely separate locations. And as a bonus, if you're returning your car outside the office's opening hours, you have to walk to a hotel and return the keys there. Like, just use a mailbox type of system like everyone else. Instead I get to wait in the hotel's reception just to drop off my keys whilst the hotel reception serviced its customer (I'm not saying they shouldnt; they should prioritize them).
All in all: the only benefit of this rental outlet is its geographic location. If you're not bound by that, I'd look at more legitimate outlet such as Sixt which I highly recommend.
Good staff. Best prices in town
Went in to enquire about car hire. They quoted me £170 for their smallest car for 24hrs. When I said I'd seen it for £34 a day online he said "Yep", but wasn't interested in discussing it further.
Friendly service with reasonable pricing.
This outlet was already not the easiest to find, given that it was nestled in a narrow street of shops. You go to the outlet to sign your paperwork, but pick up your car somewhere else.
Staff was reasonably friendly, but not too forthcoming with details on the pick-up location, telling me to go to a Texaco gas station "150 Meters down the road" which turned up to be not a Texaco, and was actually rather hard to find.
The chap also stated that the car is in perfect condition and didn't state a single problem on the collection sheet.
After some effort I found the garage and the car. The car was far from perfect! Not only was it scratched in several places, the car was also rather dirty. A simple vacuum would have solved the problem.
Good thing an Avis staff was on site and I clarified the damages with him, which he really accepted and acknowledged on the damage sheet. But with no apologies.
Service wasn't that great quite frankly. But I'm not sure you have too many options in Bergen
Be aware that car return is at a nearby gas station, two blocks away. You can also drop off your keys there afterhours in a lock box.
