I chose the Noorderlicht as the spot Saturday lunch for an important guest of mine, because I remembered it from a couple of years ago as a secret gem, a break from the city, and a place to have a contemplative/deep conversations with someone as a result. Clearly, this was not the case this Saturday. When we approached the place I was surprised and very disappointed to see an extremely loud band playing live music, and when we entered, I realized that the sound was so loud that it was impossible to have a conversation. We had to improvise to save the meeting, and as we didn't know any other places around, we ended up sitting outside in cold in order to have a conversation (while paying 6 euros for a soup) . Later, some others have joined us as well in neighbouring picnic tables. In conclusion, I do not recommend trusting the atmosphere of this place as it is proven for me to be very unreliable, and my native expectation that I was going to find the same atmosphere I had before ruined our experience. Perhaps this is common advice anyway, but I recommend always checking whether there is something like this going on beforehand in Noorderlicht before deciding to go there with someone you may want to have a conversation with.
Great spot for a drink and a bite to eat.. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Great choices on the menu, although tastes differ of course. The only thing I might add is just a little more seasoning in the dishes I tried. (chicken skewers, vegetable salad)
My friend and I stumbled across this place when we were exploring an abandoned ship yard in Amsterdam and I'm so glad we did. It's a small but charming place away from the loud city where locals like to eat. The staff were really friendly and the location is amazing. The food was delicious and affordable. Portions were also good.
Charming Cafe on the northern side of Amsterdam. If you're over around NDSM, definitely pay this place a visit. The weather was bad when I was there, but this place looks like it would be quite a fun spot to sit outside at. The food was quite good (I had an interesting jackfruit steam bun and nachos), and the drink selection is above-average. They lost my order at first, but I think it was an honest mistake, and they recovered well. I'll definitely be back.
Really cool place. The chuck steak was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. The beer was good too. There was a music Festival on which was fun
A magical change from the busy Amsterdam city cafes! A ferry stops really close by. Their grass space, camp fire and view onto the haven is just really nice. I also loved the music, their menu, the vibe. It's mostly locals, so everything is in Dutch but they are happy to help you in English. Since it's not so touristy, prices are slightly lower than in the city. Paired with this very special, cool vibe and interesting (also vegan) dishes: very cool, would go again.
Great food and chilled eco atmosphere in the NDSM warf close to waterfront. Especially nice with sunny weather sitting outside enjoying a beer from.the great selection!
Easy going and friendly staff bustle about a malleable seating area in front of the bar on the ground floor. A large garden area and promoted night-life make this a preferred visit of mine in Amsterdam!
Good food. Nice place to sit on a nice day and pound back beers.
Great place, good food and terrible service. After 45min waiting for a quiche and a soup we had to ask it for a take away. I would only recommend it if you don't have anything else to do afterward 😅
Great food, nice staff. We went for lunch but it would be amazing to go back in the evening!
