The location is ideal as everything is close by, the bars, restaurants and nightclubs. The town centre is really close by too you can't get lost from this location.

The hotel/ hostel is situated quite centrally. within Easy walking distance of university, markets and station. And it is very close to police station.
Personnel friendly and helpful. 24hrs attended reception. (We arrived after 2 in the morning and left before 6 in the morning, there was someone to check In and out). If they leave the reception for anything they do lock the main door (which is reassuring if travelling alone). A cheerful decor throughout. Lift is available. A bar/restaurant also there. Corridors are well lit and monitored (hopefully) by CC camera.
Rooms are very basic with bunk beds (and one additional pull out bed with matters, in case travelling with a child), steel lockers for 2 (get your own pad lock in case you're sharing the room), functional bathroom,(which is adequate), with hot and cold water 24/7, 3 hooks to hang your clothes/ bags, one cane chair. The window is large with sheer and dark curtains. which helps to block out light in summers. The rooms are clean. Fresh towels changed everyday with a bar of soap per head on check in. The rooms had no rug so it was freezing floor during the winter. It has a wall mounted aircondition with the thermostat. So can adjust heating when required. But the floor was freezing nevertheless. And a wall mounted t.v without a remote. just As well it doesn't work anyway.
Breakfast available for fee.quite good choices too. Microwave and toaster available. Coffee can be bought 24/7. A lounge to sit and relax or work, desktops with internet connection, Wi-Fi with password throughout the premises (though you need to log in every 15 to 20 mins). There's some snacks available too for purchase.
Now coming to the most important thing. The rooms overlooks a street which is very quite. But within the hotel the rooms have very poor sound proofing. One can hear the next room bathroom being used or some one snoring. The walls are not insulated at all. Anyone coughing or talking softly can be heard quite well. Anyone knocking on the door, couple of rooms away, can be heard very loudly. To top it all up There's always some group of boys/ young men who make lot of noise in the corridor, almost every night of our three night stay. Sometimes they knock on your door too. If you ignore they go away after sometime but few are persistant till you respond. If you call out saying they're knocking on the wrong door they insist that it is not. All three nights of our stay we had a very disturbed night. There is no phone in the room to connect to the reception or security it was disconcerting when travelling alone. And disturbing. The staff duely apologised when told. But I think if it is a group of boys, they should not be given rooms next to family or single ladies travelling alone. They should also patrol at regular intervals when such occurrences are quite common. In my opinion safety and security is as important as cleanliness and hygiene If this aspect is looked into and improved upon, the place will be perfect in every, also barring the freezing floor.
I would like to stay here again or recommend to my friends but for this aspect. Hope some thing is done to rectify this.response / report this review -

The dormitory room I stayed in was excellent, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was also good value. Overall a really enjoyable stay!

Pretty expensive and bad internet connection. But the view from the room is nice. Also, it's a very convenient location; it's close to restaurants and Grote Markt

Clean and surprisingly cheap rooms in a good location right in the heart of the city. The staff is also friendly and the free Wi-Fi works fine. The reception is 247 so there is always a person for if you need something. Extension of checkout time (12:00 to 18:00) was just 30€ for a double room. Not bad at all! Numerous services (markets, smart shops etc.) nearby as well!

good central location. a large hostel associated with hotel and restaurant. stayed in 10bed dorm with shower and toilet. did not have to pay for towel or soap .. like other large hostels in Europe! also very clean. the negatives were small ensuite shower facility. also quite expensive to other hostels stayed in. but northern europe is relatively more expensive than all the other hostels stayed in traveling from Singapore to Europe.
