We rented motorcycles for two days here and it was a great experience. The bikes were in good shape and the owner recommended good spots to visit and offered advice on routes, etc. I dropped my bike on a steep section on a questionable road and broke a brake lever, and Bravo, his mechanic fixed it for me quickly and got me back on the road. The charge for the damage was more than fair and let's face it, stuff happens and you don't want to spend your adventure worrying about stuff like that. Highly recommended!

Awesome experience. We got five bikes for a couple of days for a trip with a bunch of good buddies. Easy pickup, dropoff, great bikes, and great recommendations. All around very good guys that care about what they do and want for you to have a great time.

Planned on renting a couple bikes from Chris for an afternoon and wound up keeping them for 4 days. Chris and his gang are super friendly and professional and will take good care of you. My buddy and I decided to take a shortcut to Tree Casa and wound up on what was basically a goat trail on the backside of a mountain on some guys farm surrounded by barbed wire, where we broke down. Bravo, the mechanic (a local guy who speaks perfect English) tried to find us for like 2 hours (on his birthday) and when he finally showed up he pulled 3 cold beers and chips out of his pack Best beer I've ever had. He then 'Nica-rigged' the broken bike, gave his bike to my friend, showed us a local bar on the way home and then rode the broken bike back to the shop. When we returned the bikes 3 days later, they took one look at them and gave the full deposit back. I haven't rented from anyone else in town, but after that experience, why would I?

Rented s 200 c.c. for a week. Bike was all good no issues. We put a lot of km on it 2 up all the way. Pick up and drop off were simple and quick. Nice staff, helpful and happy to help. Easy to find in town, had confidence in renting from a knowlegable owner with a good rental history. Lots of other rental places in town but I have found that going with a long standing company with a good track record is the smart call.

    Thank you

Be prepared to get ripped off. Chris is an absolute tool who wouldn't know bike mechanics if they bit him on the arse

I rented a small 125cc for a day and had slipped multiple times down the gravel road from my hotel. When returning the bike, it was mentioned that the bike wasnt a good choice for getting to our hotel at the top of the hill (there was no tread on the front wheel), and even though i had accepted full responsibility and was going to pay for the damages, the owner told me to go f*** myself for mentioning that.

I tried returning to the store later to bring the papers, but could not find them. He got more aggressive and told me to f*** off again. He even rode past me after I left and said to never return.

I never once raised my voice or got aggressive.

I urge everyone to go elsewhere, as my friends had been given better bikes for the same price and had no trouble with their rentals.

Had nothing but the best experience with El Gringo’s and Chris. I usually ride a huge BMW GS and thought about renting a larger bike from one of the other places in town. I’m glad I saved money and rented one of Chris’s 150cc Yamaha’s. I took that bike everywhere. It was in good shape and you can’t beat the price anywhere. I knew I was in the right place when he said “Bring it back dirty.”

I was backpacking alone arround Central America and since I was on my own I wanted to rent a bike to travel arround San Juan for 15 days. I had an accident on the second day.
The bike was fine, but my foot was very badly treated. My first concern was to go to El Gringos to show that the bike was OK and ask where I could get a doctor. I immediately got a bad impression when the owner did everything to leave the store with another motorbike, not caring about my condition. After having managed to find help alone, I was told that I should go to the capital that could be treated in a more correct way (X-rays, etc). However I got in touch with the owner of the store because I had already paid 300 USD for the 15 days, having only enjoyed 2, so that we could enter into an agreement. It was not my intention to receive 13 days back, but only to talk, because this money was money that I would need to face medical expenses and travel (alone) to the hospital. As soon as I put this question to the owner I was insulted and felt truly threatened by his aggressiveness. He did not care about his client's condition, he did not want to know what my foot was like, he did not mind being alone and in that state. I've never seen anything like it before. He did not even have the education to come and give me my passport to the hostel. He said that if he saw me at the front, he would be afraid of the consequences, and threatened me again. I advise all travelers to never in kind enter this store and opt for other stores. Finally, after three days I was able to get to a hospital, carrying a backpack of 20 kg on my back, with my foot always bleeding and doing all this on my own, I was told that I had a sprain and my foot split (calcaneus) . Conclusion I had to end my dream trip and with the certainty that after having visited more than 50 countries throughout my life, I had never been so poorly served and servivo as in El Gringos Rental. Be careful and avoid this place.

Chris and Guylaine were amazing. They were quick to respond before and during our trip and help with any questions, and provided tips on what to do to get the best experience in Nica on a motorcycle. Our first vehicle rental experience where we didn't feel like we were being nickled and dimed! They just want you to experience Nica and have a good time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
