Thanks Jack for great Hamburgers and even bringing in Beer from elsewhere. We really needed it after hiking Tenica.
Good food. Horrible chef.
Just happened upon this place on my way to the supermarket. Took my meal to go and was delicious. Staff was friendly very nice owner.
Just average food, despite saying in the menu that Jack is a world cook. Portions are big but price is a bit higher that the average around. Jack is a bit awkward and in a few occasions, after asking for some information on a plate, he asked us what are you coming here for?
Ok for one night, but not a place to go back.
We went to Don Jacks with high expectations but unfortunately our experience was frustrating and ultimately unsatisfying.
The menu describes the chef as "world class" but from our experience this isn't true. Our experience was shambolic, with little/poor communication from staff, minimal menu items available, no drinks on site so the only waitress spent 10 minutes going to the shop every time someone ordered drinks..hardly world class.
We waited a long time for everything; to order, to receive drinks, to receive (some) of our food etc. And despite being in the establishment for close to 2 hours, we decided to pay and leave rather than wait any longer for 1 portion of fries which we were assured "were on". The food that did arrive was hot, fresh and reasonably priced. It just wasn't worth waiting so long for.
As a chef myself, my advice to Jack would be to concentrate on 1 style of food (i.e. Americana), communicate with the customers a little more/better & 'prep hard/cater easy'.
Be warned! If you desire an evenings self punishment - go to Don Jacks and order a few dishes that aren't burgers.
Love the food
Opening hours and days can be a bit erratic but when it's open it's absolutely worth visiting. 5 of us visited and every meal was big and fantastic.
