  Cross River National Park is the pride of Nigeria and one of the oldest rainforest in Africa. It covers an area of about 4000sq.km of primary tropical rainforest ecosystem. It is also one of the United Nation biodiversity hotpots in the world.

  The Cross River National Park is a national park of Nigeria, located in Cross River State. There are two separate sections, Okwangwo and Oban. The park covers a very large land mass, most of which consists of primary moist tropical rainforests in the North and Central parts, with mangrove swamps in the coastal zones. The park has closed canopy and scattered emergent trees reaching 40 or 50 meters in height. This park has one of the oldest rainforests in Africa, there are a-lot of primates here including chimpanzees, drills and gorillas.
  Both divisions of the park are threatened by illegal logging, slash and burn farming and poaching. The guide was very efficient in ushering me around.

  According to the rangers and park officials, this is one of the 25 biodiverse hotspots in the world. The medicinal properties of the plants found here are amazing. You're one with nature when you come here and the experience cannot be bought!
