Cocoa House, completed in 1965 at a height of 105 metres, was once the tallest building in tropical Africa. It is located in the city of Ibadan in Oyo State, Nigeria, and it was built from proceeds from commodities (e.g., Cocoa, Rubber, Timber and so on) of the then Western State of Nigeria.

Cocoa House, the 26-storey Cocoa House, Ibadan, is the property of Odu'a Investment Company Limited, Ibadan formerly known as "Ile Awon Agbe"-translates as the "House of Farmers" was commissioned for use in August 1965. This building is owned by Wemabod Estates Limited, a subsidiary of O'dua group of companies.

The building was gutted by fire on January 9, 1985 and rehabilitated for use in August 1992.

The city of Ibadan in southwestern Nigeria is the site of Cocoa House, the first skyscraper in tropical Africa. The building is a modest 24 storey high-rise structure, property of Odu’a Investment Company Ltd. Cocoa House is a major landmark in Ibadan. Though Lagos Metropolis, as the industrial and commercial hub of southwest Nigeria, claims pre-eminence over Ibadan, from a historical perspective Ibadan is Lagos’s big sister. Beginning from the middle of the eighteenth century, Ibadan rose to prominence as the dominant military power among Yoruba towns of the forest belt of southwest Nigeria. Its military power was unchallenged until the imposition of British Protectorate in 1893.

Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, is enjoying a boom of sort in real estate business as shopping malls and multi-storey buildings spring up in the ancient city.

This is of historic value. Was once the tallest building south of the Sahara. Still one of tallest building in Ibadan.

A shopping mall is located here. There is a cinema, swimming pool, and night club. So, you will not only come to look, you can shop, eat, play and be merry. Mind you, cars are packed here for a few charged hourly.
