Hilarious airport. They have about 20 people on the tarmac when boarding the plane, to direct you in the right direction. They're polite, but then there's this angry guard at check-in yelling at people to get in the right line and checking their names off a list (can't that just be done at the counter?).

At immigration, the guard was furious because I had used a red pen on my form, which wasn't against any written rule (it was all I had, and all their pens are gone). Luckily she said I could skip the (long) line when I had redone it. That was good, though no amount of sign language could explain the situation to abate the hilarious anger of the guy I ended up butting in front of (not Namibian, and didn't know English).

Average experience overall - Windhoek is a small town with big planes coming to it, so about what I expected.

Horrible service. Barely any staff seems to know what they are doing and are overwhelmed. 8 employees just standing around not doing anything. Bathrooms are filthy.

Arrivals were fairly easy, but nothing much was open when we arrived in the evening on a flight from Jo'burg (except for the mobile phone company, one rental car place and the taxi counter). The only way to get cash was through an ATM.

Departure was very slow, so allow plenty of time. Our rental car company really gave us a hard time about not filling up at the airport petrol station (we'd filled up in town and the indicator was still on FULL, so I don't get the problem). Check in took a long time. No one instructed us to fill in a departure card, and these were only available on a small shelf right in front of the security checkpoint, which led to a bottleneck. There is very little food service here, so go prepared or eat in town. There is only one big departure hall with a few pricey souvenir shops and two coffee counters. On the upside, because it is a small airport, you won't have to walk very far with your carry on bags!

This is by far the worst airport I have ever been to, and I am ashamed as a Namibian citizen to call it our main port of air travel to the country. The staff and facilities desperately need to upgrade their service quality, because at the moment it is painfully unpleasant to make use of this airport.

Poor customer services, unfriendly and arrogant. More training needed for the workers espcially on how to improve the services and communication. Need extra supervision too. service is very very very slow. The supervisor need to do his /her job not just seating .

Not bad for departures, but arrivals is painful. Very small arrivals terminal with a chaotic queuing system.

Veey, very, very badly run airport with Air Namibia at the centre of the worse of it. I queue an hour to check in with business class passengers turning up and pushing straight to the front. It was utter chaos. There are no buses to and from Windhoek so you are at the mercy of the taxi shuttles who overcharge of course. A bus service is needed to come up to modern standards and move away from confusion and dishonest practices. A fair price would be N$50 for a bus ticket.

Beautiful airport, maybe a little bit small for when there are a lot of international flights, but the staff is friendly & really helpful!

Very poor service ! Helpless ! So expensive to park! The police doesn't work on public holiday and weekend! If you lost something during public holiday, than you can only go windhoek to open a case! Inside the camera doesn't help at all! What a international airport!!!!!!!!!!!

Small airport, friendly staff, very clean. Not much to do. Not many counters or baggage belts, so if there is a full flight there may be queues. No free WiFi and very far from the city or any hotels. Transfers between the Domestic Airport (Eros) and this airport can be cumbersome.

Immigration staff are pretty imposing. I went through with a local once and the experience changed from hostile interrogation to laughing and joking! There's a hard sell for baggage wrapping that I don't appreciate and the outbound security is pretty chaotic. The cafes inside and outside are good but the rest of the shops appear to hire the most unpleasant staff they can find, it's all a bit strange!

If you are South African you are not allowed to buy from duty free? What nonsense is this? Wonder what makes their duty free so special? I also verified that alcohol in the arrival area has the exact same price as in duty-free? How is that for a rip-off?
