Belonging to a local Himba community, it provides basic bungalows (toilet and shower facilities on each), braai area and, quite often, desert elephants wandering through the campsite for an unforgetable, genuine, african experience. Quite difficult to reach without a local guide or a good, updated GPS, because of lacking road signs to properly mark the right way through the bush and river-valley. But, when arrive, one reaches the African heaven. Very, very clean and helpful staff. Cultural Himba village few kilometers away. Unbeatable prices and value for money.

Absolut empfehlenswert

Purros Bush Lodge is sorely in need to some TLC please. Some of the lights have no bulbs in them, our window screen was repaired messily with ducktape and we ran out of water shortly after the staff left the camp at dark. This community has been doing tourism long enough to know how to take care of the basics. Light and water at night is pretty basic. Manager please take note.

It is a great place, you will probably see elephants right in the camp as we did in the morning. The showers with donkeys and toilets are hidden in a thick bushes, firewood is available. We tried to reach them by email but did not succeed. Some people told us that it is usual and we should just go. So we did but the road took us long and we got there at night and noone was at the "reception". Luckily some people stying there let us stay at their campsite and explained everything. So get there early :-) You can get petrol/diesel right in the camp or there are signs in the Purros village.
