Fantastic service from the people at Okavango. It was our first trip to Namibia and we decided to arrange it all ourselves. We chose Okavango car hire from the reviews on TripAdvisor and we are so glad we did. They are great and cover all aspects of your hire and trip with you. We were collected from the airport and on our return journey we stopped at the guesthouse for a night. The guesthouse was spotless, extremely comfortable and once again the service was fabulous. Regarding the car hire, we felt really secure with two spare types (that we didn’t need) a water tank and a cool box. It was incredible to have the freedom with our own Hilux, which was built for the conditions such as the gravel roads of Namibia. Any questions we had were answered quickly and professionally by one of the team. We stayed at some amazing places but the icing of the trip was the vehicle. We intend to come back one day and we will without doubt book our car ( and a nights accommodation) with Okavango. Thank you all for contributing to our holiday of a lifetime.

Our experience with Okavango Car Hire was excellent. Upon reception of the truck, the information provided by Lorenzo was very clear and was very useful during our 3 week trip. He advised us not only on the vehicle but also on the way to drive to different locations, while mapping our itinerary on a map which he provided us with. The truck we rented was very good which is a must when driving through Namibia. We also noticed that our (nearly new) tires were often far superior than the tires we saw on other rental vehicles. The complete staff from Okavango Car Hire was professional, responsive, friendly and great to work with. We can strongly recommend Okavango Car Hire.

I can't recommend this company enough and plan to use them for future trips to that region! We were given invaluable hints and tips, one which actually saved us from being completely burgled, the car was brilliant and Rudi and Natacsha were both helpful, reasonable, firm and very fair! No bad reviews here, we have nothing but brilliant memories and loads of praise for them.

Thank you for everything! I wish I was still there in Namibia, enjoying the beautiful scenery and animals. The car and camping accessories we had were everything we needed, and all worked 100%. All your assistance with our travel route was very much appreciated, thank you again!

The car was good, very reliable, and they give friendly service, they helped plan the best route for our trip. Great experience sleeping in a tent on the roof of the car, which was also super easy to setup and take down every time.

Good car, very new and in great shape. Also very good tires, even more if you compare it to other rental cars. The car has airco, Bluetooth for your music and USB for charging your phone. The rooftop tent is easy to use. When we arrived we got an extensive explanation on the ins and outs of the car, they really take their time to make sure you know the car completely. Whenever you have an issue with the car or have to change a tire you can call or text the company and they advise on what to do and send help if needed. The only negative part I can think of was the tracking system. All cars have a tracking system so the company knows when you are speeding or where you are. Now that in itself is not a problem, however the system is not always working properly. It sometimes started beeping when we parked next to the road as the system thougt we were off-road. If this happens uou can call the company and they reset the system, but as we didn't always had cellular service we couldn't do that, which gave is the annoying beep. When we brought back the car we gave this feedback too and they mentioned that as they could see where we were they already could reset It themselves and they knew we were not doing anything illegal so they didn't charge us with anything. When you bring the car back they check the car extensively so count on some waiting time there. We stayed the last night in thoer guesthouse too which was nice and ok value for money. Then they brought us back to the airport which was free. Maybe not the cheapest you can get, but certainly a company which takes care of their cars and this results in good cars with no difficulties during your holiday. Would highly recommend this car!

Better rent somewhere else
Overall a not very nice holiday experience. We wanted a car with Navigation, which was not available. We lost our way, and were driving on a not official road. As the car had really old tyres we had a flat tyre. The owner contactd us and told us that the insurance company had cancelled our wheel and glas insurance. When we came back we agreed to pay for the tyres if he shows us the canceling of the insurance. He couldn´t. He was shouting at us and was very unfriendly and even called the police to threaten us.
We went to the insurance company and they couldn´t even find an insurance for that liscence plate of the car in their system.
To be fair all employes are very friendly and helpfull, but Rudi the owner is a very unfriendly, unproffessional person who tries to get as money from you as he could.
So I would recommend to better rent somewhere elseresponse / report this review
