We booked a shelter called Hippo Chalet on the water because we wanted to be by ourselfes. It was like camping and scary during the night, something wanted to eat our roof and wanted to get in. It left some droppings on the floor and some on the moskito net. For the next time I would suggest a room near the main house because it is the same price.

Very good experience close to nature of the Namibia landscape. The walking routes are clearly marked and a clear map is supplied per walker. The contact with the organisers is excellent, and our September walk was closely monitored given this is hot time of year. Be sure to start early if you plan a walk, as the harsh climate saps the energy.

This place does not worth its dinner price and you depend on it, if you stay there. Avoid the hippo chalets!!!

It seems it is necessary to state a more detailed reason for my rating:
No doubt, the farm itself, the nature, the views are very nice!
Dinner was a goulash with noodles with appetizer and dessert for double as much as what we usually paid in other lodges even with much higher standards.
The exchange rate is really not a good argument. I don´t go e.g. to Thailand and tell the people there to raise their prices because of the good exchange rate.
From the reception to the hippo chalet it´s at least a 15 minutes ride over rough terrain. When we arrived there was no single drop of water neither coming out of the shower nor coming out of the toilet flash. So going all the way back to inform the reception about it. Hours later we finally had some water available. And that after a long ride during the day and feeling really dirty.
Next: Good beds!?
Matresses are totally sagging. Every move you make in the bed will wake you up because of the loud squeaking of the slatted frame (springs), which was definetely no sound of nature. We did not shut one eye in the night. And then the rodents in the roof, but that is nature, ok.
By the way, hippo chalet was booked by travel agent who is informed by now.

Lovely setting on cliffs overlooking an ephemeral river, great scenery and game viewing. Food is decent, but the accommodation is aged and less than clean.
