Avis please check the condition of your tires before hiring out your vehicles. I unfortunately didn't think of checking them when I received the car. Had I received a fine for them, I would've held you accountable for it. Yes I did report the condition of 1 of the tires on the 3rd day of the 4, as I had a long distance to cover on that day, and was told to have it replaced at my insurance's cost.
Bought a second hand car and was a great deal plus service was very good!
Offices need an update, waiting area is miserable, Aircon insufficient and poor internet connection. The team are friendly but the facility let's them down.
Scam people, be carefull if you rent a car here. A rock,in the road , jump and do a little dent UNDER the bumper, and i was rented a extra spare tyre , they gave me a very old one.
When arrive at home I saw a debit in my credit card US 400,0 .Never receive invoices or justification for that.
Rentalcars where I had assurance return me that money, and said it was a tyre and a "acident"
Think before rent a car in Avis airport Windhoek
BEWARE if you are an Avis Preferred Customer. You decline the extra insurance but 10 days after you arrive home you find a large extra charge on your credit card and when you query it you find it is for the insurance you declined. When you point out that you declined and never signed to accept it they tell you that as an Avis Preferred customer they have your signature on file and don't need any further signature. Fraudulent beyond belief!! I had to give them 1 star in order to be able to write this review, but they certainly don't deserve any stars.
The collection point is NOT in the city centre (as per their Web page) but 8 km away at Eros airport.
The office is very run down. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Requires upfront booking for vehicle rentals but good service and great selection of vehicles
They force me to wash car outside before return at my expense, otherwise they will charge N$ 900. Washing cars outside is not a work of clients!
I rented a Polo Vivo, the day I went to collect the car they gave me a Toyota Corolla.
They gave us a care with a broken window but they promised they will gave us another car the day after. They never came and when we went back they refuse to change it. After some scream and teare they found a crappy but a least it had all the windows... I do not recommend !!!!
I rented a car through Avis to travel in Namibia from the 21 Dec until the 26th. As I've received Namibian dollars for Christmas I decided to use it full up the rental before returning it as I can't use Namibian dollars back home in SA. I returned a practically full car (I filled up in Windhoek, which is a 45km drive from the airport.) And the car was also cleaned before I returned it. I was told by the inspector all is fine, and I can just leave the petrol slip in the car which I did.
Days later R485.61 was deducted from my credit card by Avis. I never received an invoice with a cost breakdown or anything. I spoke to Vivian Sibanyoni in customer care, who said 276.80N$ was deducted for fuel. How can a filled up Polo Vivo use that much petrol over 45km? And how do they get to a total of 485.61? Customer serves said the amount was for outstanding fuel, and I had to show the petrol slip as proof. I find this unacceptable as I think they either mixed my bill up with another car, or someone is trying to cheat me since I never even received an invoice.
