I only stopped there for a few drinks. I can say anything about the food since I didn't eat there. I looked at the menu and it looked like mexican fusion food (not my thing). The drinks are phenomenal. I would definitely go back there for more drinks.

Beautiful place, delicious entrees ; however undercooked duck, NON cocktail experience, so so deserts. In general an overrated restaurant.

For a restaurant of this caliber, there is an unfortunate lack of front-house management.

A year ago on a week-long cooking and restaurant tour, this was to be the highlight dinner, but they botched the reservation and didn't ready our twelve-top. We helped them move tables around and made the best of the evening.

This year, here on our own, we made a Tuesday 8 pm reservation, arrived on time, and were told the tables were taking a bit long. Shuffled up to the bar we were sat at a comfy table and waited for service. After 10 minutes I went to the bar and ordered my own drinks. I mean literally, Nobody. Even. Looked. At. Us.

After another 35 minutes of Nobody. Even. Looking. At. Us., I walked to the front, and, S.T.F.D., my table was ready Actually 3 tables were ready, take your pick!

Thoroughly discussed, we left and walked over to La Sirena Gorda (the mermaid bar), ordered a couple of drinks, two top-end tequila shooters, and an appetizer. They tuned in the Olympics, gave us great service, and saved our evening.

Will never go back to The Restaurant again. They don't deserve our business. The mermaid bar does.

Not vegetarian friendly. They don't even know what vegetarian means. At first, the waiter said the chef can make buttered vegetables which says a lot for a fancy restaurant. Then we asked for the chef, and the waiter took back his words. The chef prepared 2 tasteless pastas, 1 cream and 1 tomato. The tomato based pasta smelled absolutely like lamb and my partner had an allergy after tasting it. Yet, they denied it having meat. I think there is no herb or vegetable in the world that smells like lamb.

On the other hand, lovely courtyard setting.

They served a "salad" that is not a salad. Small portions on entries and overpriced, considered the best rest. in SMA but is not, there are much better many other options with good gourmet food and very nice ambiance.

Well organized, professional staff, easy to read menu, large wine selection, and good desserts. Though in Mexico has a European atmosphere. Reservations recommended for peak dinner hours.

The food is excellent. The Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad is one of the best salads I ever had. The Caesar was well done with an anchovy on top. I had the scallops and shrimp but tried the chowder, ribs, steak, trout and chicken from my dining companions and it was all delicious. My favourite was the chowder that had a hint of sweetness. For dessert we shared the creme brulee, mocha mousse, and burnt caramel sundae. All of this was fabulous, my fave was the mousse, light, creamy and delicious. The service was friendly and responsive and the decor is artistic and welcoming. A wonderful night out for our party of six. I highly recommend making reservations.

Good food and the place is very nice. It's on the expensive side though.

Food was decent, but the service wasn't what I would expect for a restaurant like that. They didn't tell us about charges they were adding to the bill and other issues Food portions were super small. Just not up to par with a restaurant that charges that much.

Great service. Nice ambiance. Limited choices (maybe a couple) without spicy sauce.

SERVICE: was excellent, after they noticed that I don't speak Spanish, they talked in English with me and in Spanish with my Girlfriend
ATMOSPHERE: I would describe it as romantic, all though it was very cold, there are some heaters but not for every table. Maybe in the future they will get some blankets for those tables without a heater.
MUSIC: The music was current pop music, I had the impression some classic would fit better to the atmosphere.
SPECIAL: The roof of the restaurant can be opened during warm nights and I can imagine it has a great view of the sky
WINE & BEER: I didn't order wine but the wine menu was quite large and included local and international options. The selection for beer was more limited compared to the selection of wine, but still with about 7 different local brews it was big enough.
FOOD: It was the best food I had in Mexico so far (after about 20 days). I had a fish lightly spiced served with an extra bowl of tomatoes-jalapeño sauce. The complementary bread was delicious as well.

Delicious food by a rock star chef. The restaurant is in the heart of colonial San Miguel de Allende. The architecture is gorgeous. Be sure to go on Thursday nights for burger night.

I had the tuna tartar followed by the duck Hoisin. Both were excellent and presentation was perfect. Food came fast, service was impeccable and the wine by the glass selection is outstanding. No crappy wines here.

Special mention for the hostess: she was pretty, elegant and kept an eye on all tables, ready to step in if waiters needed help. Far, far above most hostess I've ever seen. Maybe she's really the owner? ;-)
